I just bought a 914 at an auction today and im a little confused.....it has the emblems 914-6 and has the 6 motor but my vin (as written on paper, not on car....cant see its dark) as i researched comes up as a 914-4. is there any sure tell tell sign if this was a conversion, a mistake on the title, or what not...thanks for any input, gerry

If the first three numbers are 471 it is a four. I think all four's had the key ignition on steering column. The sixes were on the dash. |

Does the vin start with 914? If not, it is probably a conversion car. More info and pics will help tell for sure.

Since your car is a 71, the vin would start w/ 471 for a 4cyl. If it's a six the vin starts w/ 914.

i also forgot add that i will be restoring it so any links or referrals as to some respected parts suppliers will be handy......parking the v-8 chevy circle tracker for a new 914 hobby, so all the advice is appreciated

Also check the VIN tag on the driver's side door jamb
