Looks cool, any pics with just the DRL's on and not the cats eyes? Looks like it may give a sort of halo effect.

Hey Doug, did you ever get a chance to throw the amber lens on there? Can't decide which set to buy...probably go with the clear lens underneath but not sure if it matters much. I like the look of the clear lens so someday I might want to switch to that.

Funny. I just found it about an hour ago and remembered I was going to do that.
I'll get to it tonight. |

Turns out that my amber lens is a Euro lens, so here goes. You get the idea.

Thanks! Probably better since it has both white and amber on it...looks pretty bright!

Following this thread and ordered the same LED lamps.
I have clear turn signal lenses on my car - so I ordered the clear lens with amber LEDs. Here is a small video - not sure why it went out of focus - but you get the idea. So much better. Now for Spoke to finish his taillight LED project. This was taken at noon on a very sunny day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAgCELfdMeM |

Did you have to change relays? There was a concern that the LEDs would not work with stock relays.
Very nicely done David |

I fully expected to do that as I have LED taillight bulbs in there too (both brake light and taillight). Just got lucky I guess. |

Did you paint the inside of the buckets before you installed the lights? I was wondering about reflection.
The other LED lights I wanted for "DRL" came in yesterday, so I'm going to put those together this week. I'm looking for a kind of "halo" type effect. |

Hi Doug, I did not paint inside and mine were very dull. I mounted my units by wrapping self adhesive foam around the unit and it made for a nice snug friction fit and centered the LED unit in the bucket perfectly. This way I made no modifications to the bucket and by using the pigtail leads with the 1157 base no electrical changes were made. I can go back to original in a matter of minutes. It blocks out almost all of the original reflective portion of the bucket so it would not have mattered to me. I am anxious to see your DRL effect and I may modify mine accordingly. Thanks for leading the way on this - it really makes a HUGE difference. |

I also did the Cat-Eye LED front running/turn signal lights. So thought I could find something that I could change the rear tail lights to LED. On Ebay I found these round 2 3/4" LED lights that have a high and low feature. So I bought 6 of them, 3 for the right side and 3 for the left side. What I did is mounted 3 of them on a panel that would fit inside of the tail light assembly. Here are a couple pictures of how I did it.
