All aftermarket cams or special grinds all seem to require a bolt on cam gear.

So I'm wondering what the difference is between the stock cam gear and the aftermarkets ones that are !NOT! a straight cut gears?

I suppose the real root of this question is if I could grind off or dill out the rivets on a stock gear and bolt that gear onto an aftermarket cam.

Thanks!
