Trying to find info on the serial numbers for 901 transmissions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Is there a site I can go to for info? Lotsa "901" transmissions. Got a particular type in mind. (901, 902, 905, 911, 914). Kinda determines where you have to look them up. The Cap'n |

The serial number on my transmission is 1914/HAO051932 which places it as a 1972 using this chart. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) if it were a 72 it should be a tail shifter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Is this chart correct?

Thank you that has the info I am looking for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I am looking at the 901 transmission in my 73 914. Well, right off the bat (and despite what people say here), that's NOT a "901". It's a "914". If it's a '70-Sept.-'72 tail shifter, it's a 914/11. If it's a late 1972-1976 and has a side shifter, it's a 914/12. Yours will have a number like this: HA xx (day) xx (month) x (year, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) The specs book lists no actual serial numbers (called "consecutive running numbers") for transmissions built after September 30, 1972. I don't know if that means they stopped numbering them. As for your number, its quite possible the trans could have been converted from tail shift to side shift. I've done at least a couple dozen, and there are a LOT of qualified trans techs out there who've probably done the same ............... The Cap'n |

Thanks Cap'n,
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I think you are right, the number is 914/11HAO051932 making it originally a tail shifter which has been refitted into a side shifter. That answers the question I was after. Jerry |
