bummer about the forecast, and my car is running awesome and I wont be making it down, bummer! only 2 hours away, - too many things going on. we do have a local PCA bbq at my mechanics shop this Saturday, so that will have to suffice for me. hope you guys have a great time, please post some pictures of the cool famous and rare 914's. Hope the rain stays away, but it is florida after all!

Saturday is only 30% chance of rain and not until later in the afternoon, after the Cars & Coffee at The Concours is over. Sunday is also 30% chance of rain.

Shame, for the concourse eight 914-6 in attendance, and seven of them are GTs. And no 914-4s. Not really a true representation of 914s, but I'm not surprised at all.

I spoke to Bill Warner about that (owner of the Concours). Even though they invited my LE for the event, he told me only the rarest of the rare would be at the Sunday event. So not even an LE will be there Sunday (just not rare enough, I guess). But there will be on Saturday! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) As well as some VERY nice /6's I know! Plus, my car isn't a concours car.

Finally getting around to restoring my spare set of fog light grills. One of the ones on my car has a crack. Cleaned up the corrosion on these and they almost look new! Now to prime and paint satin black for the LE. After all, they have to be concours for The Concours! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Nothing like waiting to the last minute. :/

Stopped in Brumos today and saw this framed photo of Brumos from 1972. Nice looking 914 in the showroom!

But WAIT! Wait until you see what's in there NOW! Will post some pics later. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

You know, I had the same reaction to the 914 concours published list. They really should have had one of the first production cars (read simple clean design, steel wheels, hubcaps and all) along with one of the last production run "big bumper" cars that had all the factory improvements made through the years. At least that would have been more representative of what was actually sold in great numbers to the public.

It's somewhat ironic that the 914-6 was a sales disaster in its day and is now the collector darling, and seems to be the only model worthy of a high end invite only show. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one but, the 4's were the cars that were sold to the masses in big numbers, by Porsche standards, and provided an entry level Porsche that has, to this day, a very loyal and enthusiastic following.
Just sayin.

I agree. My guess is that we are seeing a little bit of politics here in terms of which 914s are "worthy" of the event.

Tommy, do you know how many 914s are in the C&C Saturday? How many are driving over with you? Just curious about the 914 showing. I am a little disappointed there aren't any 4s in the Councours Sunday.

Got done with work and am packing our bags tonight for an early morning flight to Jacksonville! After the Chicago winter, Amelia Island should be great?

Looking forward to meeting some of you folks, my 914 tee shirts are packed!

Acceptance to the Concourse is more about who know, less about the car...

Also keep in mind that the 914 is not the only featured marque - just one of several. Therefore it is not their intention to have a good representation of the 914 line, just a few examples. I also find it interesting that their website makes no mention of the featured marques, it's buried down in the news link. So what does all this really mean?

But I do feel it is a shame that the bread and butter of the model is not represented.

None the less we would be there no matter the featured marques - well worth the 10 hour drive any year.

I applied and was turned down, tried to get my 1974 1.8 in as the "truest" example of the "everyman" version of our beloved car.

Sorry I won't be there, though! Have fun everybody and post lots of pics.
