Bringing the carbs down to the proper altitude. Got some Warner in the housings from the torrential downpour last night. Cleaned that out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Nothing but gas.

On the highway runs we got 23.4 mpg. 17 for city driving.

Here's a list of the maintence items along the way:

Last fuel stop in New Mexico - removed the crappy fuel pressure regulator from the circuit. Above 95 (on the track) it began emptying the float bowls. Swapped a few lines. Problem solved.

In Louisiana, we hit rain. Lots of it. The wipers worked fine and, the intermittent relay and 924 switch got a workout. However, the wipers were jumpy. - in New Orleans we tightened the large 22mm nuts on the linkage.

Leaks - the drivers window (because I changed those top seals before... I wasn't that interested in changing them again). I have two new seals at the shop that I should have installed. Water got in during a downpour while we were dining in New Orleans. Water got in the rear trunk too via the tail light housings. Those seals were new. Water also got in the left tail light housing. That lens and seal was new too. The big one was last night in a very heavy downpour, I lifted the rear lid to get my suitcase out and it dumped a sheet of water on the air cleaner housing (thankfully using a stock housing for this trip). It appears water was directed around the edge of the top where the clips hold on and then it drained past the base seals and stood in the base. This allowed water/warner to suck directly into the air correction jets and emulsion tubes. It runs much better when that doesn't happen btw. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

We took some time to tune the carbs for this elevation after that and... We're good to go. Fuel cost was roughly $45-65.00 per day. So basically "nothing but gas".

Hey Sparkle Nuts, you know who you are. Great idea to bring Kent's 6 home. Now you'll know what parts are going with the car, instead of some toothless, mouth breathing, Wal Mart shopping Carney dude who lives in his Mom's basement breathing carbon monoxide, stealing them along the way. Be safe my man.

Andy and Eric's 914-6s sitting side by side is a wonderful thing to behold, indeed. Two different twists on the same car and they are both killer. Both great builds!!Attached Image
