Wrapping up driving season soon. Top is on. Enjoying the 993 heat exchangers. Unfortunately at some point the gas tank has to come out as the cables for the heat boxes are messed up. In no hurry on that I know it’s a routing issue and I will eventually get to it. Did I mention how loud the Bosch 044 fuel pump is man it almost obnoxious in volume. Need to put it on the lift and change fuel filter and decide a better rubber isolation for it or an alternative brand/ type with same specs. I learned it draws a ton of power as well. I put on 400 miles this summer so less than I wanted but worked through the tuning of the EFI , changed a band connector out, and enjoyed it. I still may have a month left we will see. Depends on salting of the roads

For a quieter pump, use the Aritex E-8445 or equivalent. It is small and quiet. It works with the 4.0L motor in my car, so it should have enough pressure and volume for yours.

Zims Autotechnic (www.allzim.com) makes a mounting bracket for the fuel pump that bolts on with the rack mount bolts. No cutting required. Call Aaron @partsguy22 , phone number 817-267-4451 and he will hook you up.

Who did the conversion on the 993 heat exchangers? I am looking at the same thing for my car.

Clay

Ben does the conversion. I’m in line for a set.

in the world of /6 conversions, I am not sure if either "least complicated and most economical" fit into the program. Mine took a couple years and more than a couple piles of $$, but she is mostly done and she rocks. It's a 2.7, went to Ollies and I had a local long time racer build the engine.

Are you considering doing a conversion? Mine would have been MUCH more difficult without all the assistance I received with all the fine folks here.

2.2,2.4 probably the cheapest if you can find a good runner for sale but if it’s a core 2-2.7 all cost the same

@clayperrine that’s a very inexpensive pump that should work well

I think Ben puts away his 914 in the winter. WI isn’t just cold, it’s snowy.

More FUN that way! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Just kidding, I wouldn't take that out in crappy weather either!

Not the weather, it is the road salt. On dry cold January days you can see the salt swirling in the wind. Rust.

Wow it’s been 9 years since I started this thread. A lot happened in those 9 years from @mepstein helping me launch a website, “finished” the car, I got 9 years older but drove the car about 4-5000 miles since, thought about selling but ultimately just enjoy driving it. I want to thank everyone whom have helped me including, Mark, Perry, Chris,Clay, Bruce, Brent, and so many others that helped support this project through ideas, parts, buying my parts, telling me I am crazy etc. here’s to the tenth year anniversary coming next year. Hope to drive a whole bunch more this coming year.

Started the car today. 30 degrees out but fired up pretty easily with the fuel injection and the alternator swap works perfectly thanks @mepstein Attached Image

I am new to 914 World and to 914's but am the proud owner of a 6 conversion I found here recently on the Classifieds. Sorting some things out but it's now a driver and some of the fine tuning needing to be done is regarding an emergency brake setup. The car has upgraded 911 suspension bits and pieces and the brakes came from a Cayman/Boxter so are 4 piston calipers. I have contacted several local (Bay Area) shops and one had a solution that was going to be 'easy' and turned out to be non existent. Does anyone have a solution for upgraded brakes to have an e brake for parking? It seems simple but I guess not so turning to you experienced experts for some advice.

Much thanks!

Put studs on it - time for some ice racing!

Gauge looks great. EFI is magical in cold weather.

Just sitting here watching the sunrise and realizing the days are getting longer. Ready for spring. Going to make a carbon filter for the fuel tank, change the fuel filter and hopefully get the mixing boxes properly hooked up before spring

Hey Ben, I saw your thread about the perlon kit for the firewall. I am curious if you came up with an elegant solution to hide the seatbelt retractors when doing this.

Similar here, although it's more about flying for us. I don't like flying in the dark during winter. Harder to see clouds which I'm not allowed to fly into.
