What gearbox are you using with the s2k. Great looking swap,I am really enjoying my v6 914 only thing I don't like is the gearing in the trans. When I rebuild I think I'm going to go with a limited slip and longer 4 @ 5 I had a 02 s2k and put a comptech super charger on it 300 at the wheels but only 180 tq sold engine and tranny and bought ls1 great swap The only problem is smog here in California if I had to do it again inline pro all the way I don't want Tomrev's thread to get off track. The V6 build looks great and I hope he continues to post his work which looks outstanding. Regarding the trans. I'm using 901 with shortened 3rd and 4th ratios due to the high revs. 5th is stock for Cruising. With a V6 I would think the stock ratios would do just fine. |

Did you purchase or fabricate the radiator fill that is circled in this picture?
I have been looking for something like that for my Subaru conversion. Ray |

Nice work! I have got to get a TIG! I have a CNC mill and a manual lathe but no way to melt aluminum together. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Is it to late to get it on this years Christmas list? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I'm sure your kid's bike needs work, or some other household reason you can say "this is an investment we can all use!" Every cool tool I have came after too many years of struggling with junk; then I'd get the right thing, and go damn, why did I do 30 years of roofs before getting this air gun? |

Damn, I'm ready to part out my Pilot to make this happen. Only 2 road blocks. One, I'm still paying it off. Number two,.......it's my wifes DD. She doesn't appreciate surprises,.....or my humor... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

She is a runner; finished up all but the tach mod. Now just have to wait a few months for the snow to melt. I knew it would sound good, but it surpassed my hopes, as it sounds like the NSX's i had some years back! Rev's super freely, and idles quietly.

Sound clip indeed! I see you relocated your throttle body for clearance - nice job! Do you have any idle or running problems due to the internal EGR tube or the vacuum path dividers inside the manifold? Great conversion by the way!

Nice! I think for a street car it's hard to use even 250hp in these cars.

I eliminated the EGR, and tapped and plugged all the EGR tubes/ports in all sections of the manifold. Without relocating the TB, (and flipping the intake 180 deg.), there was no way the engine would fit, without a lot of body/trunk mods, and the plan was to leave the car unmolested, as much as possible. It has been a super fun project, with lots of stuff to fab, and $$ stayed pretty low, at $2K total. I think the power level is well suited to the 901 box, as well. |

Nice! I think for a street car it's hard to use even 250hp in these cars. Isn't that like saying I don't need a 1000 watt stereo system? Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to turn it up all the way - the volume knob also turns the other way. You'd have to talk with members who have the big power numbers to find out how they like the rush and how they handle it. There's some big hp race 914s that find their way to the street occasionally and probably love it! You know what they say - Enough power is great but too much is perfect! Yeah this really messes things up for some of us Tom (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . We WANT THAT! Was a little worried about that side mounted intake. Sounds like it breathes fine.
Looks great. Congrats on getting it up and running. Did you say you got the engine harness done somewhere? How about the ECU? Who did that work for you? |

F20 from an S2000. You read my mind! Nice setup. I was thinking about the very same thing since just last night....my 20 yr old son brought his new (to him) S2000 home. I was very impressed with the specs! >230 hp for a 2.0L 4-cyl NA (VTECH YO!) And they are small and supposedly very reliable. It's also funny that the S2000 has a Honda F20 in it, and MY DD has a Toyota FA20 (no relation of course), which I have also looked to put in a 914... |

Looks great. Congrats on getting it up and running. Did you say you got the engine harness done somewhere? How about the ECU? Who did that work for you? In stock form, the TB flows into the outer air box on the intake, so by moving it to the side, it still enters a common box, and seems to be a non issue. I researched the dune buggy shops that are using the Honda, and found a couple who will clean up the stock harness. Settled on Don's Buss Box, a guy in Az. who builds gearbox;s for buggies, and will supply a modded late 90's ECU, and go thru your harness for $850. He in turn has another buggy shop do the harness work, based out of Wa. It was done cleanly, and allowed me to concentrate on the welding / fab end of things, which I like best, and then just change the chassis wiring to mate up with the Honda parts. It only needs 6 wires to run, and control's the fan and fuel pump, as in a stock setting. |

That's 240hp @ 8300 and 150tq @7500, with a 9000 redline. Sounds great for a 914. Problem is that everyone who owns one drives at redline, thus the engines wear out much faster than everything else, if they haven't broken a rocker or cam. Replacement costs are up there too, as it was low volume and desireable. |
