How to make a 914 a brick in the road,as you would drive past them on the track,your car was pushed away by the turbulence around the nose.
At no time was a wind guy consulted,you know,like at Porsche,where winning hung on the smallest advantages. Signal light delete and door skin addition. Barn door,as molded from a sheet of 3/8" plywood,the width of the car and the height of the bumper nose. The only resemblance to any Porsche that I've ever seen is that of the 934/935. The difference is not subtle,and was misinterpreted and molded. https://www.google.ca/search?q=porsche+934&...p;q=porsche+935 A major overhaul of the grp panels to allow the air a smoother path,reducing induced drag,looks ok too. The way he sloped the windscreen makes all the difference,the hard way to a 3" chop. Cutting out the entire windshield surround and repositioning the entire assembly forward then leaning back results in a far more sophisticated appearance. A close look at the front corner of the car reveals an attempt to make a smooth transition to the rear,with a curved surface. Who knows?A few bucks spent on an estimate of buyers opinions is what the auto business is all about. The development of the side features is what sets this car apart,some attempt made at unique look,and also resembling some high end GTs. Some others,while not obvious verbatim copies,have been crudely done with little skill. A Testarossa by Pininfarina has some talent applied,which is why it looks good,tho extreme,to this day. |

The nicest convertible. Sloped the windscreen,added a well done scoop to blend with the latch,the only one I've seen done like that. A spoiler,I think ruins the curve of the trunk and hip line,tho I do like the trimmed bumper. Somehow,those wheels look ok on this car,when normally I don't care for them. The choice of seats is a thing I would change,only because I would feel insecure without some degree of rollover protection,a seat with a chromolly hoop inside,at minimum. All around,a great looking vert,tho points off for the door gaps. This color is called Thrills,like the gum. Something a little different,a two tone! Low contrast,a few shades lighter or darker on the bumpers and rockers. This car is a highly modified 914,40mm lower. A proper tarp,a hint of Boxster. A nicely modded fender kit,with a sloped windscreen,smoothed here and there a couple of headrests and a wing. I like it in spite of the sharp front corner and flat front facia,a feature never sold by any automaker,ever. The mirrors work,setting off the blacked out trim,all very nice.The rear fender scoop is well done,subtle protrusion. The color really sets it off,a photo op in an orange or lemon grove near sunset would be calendar gorgeous. This looks so good because of the professionally designed siglites we know so well. Mmmm,550. A siglite rake to match the windscreen more closely would set it off,racier. I'm still thinking of how I would change this,to make it better and I think a dropped hood line would work ok. The details around the hood vents and a positive shape to the nose,more rounded at the leading edge and fender line. The high contrast paint of course should be resprayed in a light metallic to show the curvatures and lines better. An optional 911 roofline top would get the blood moving and heads turning. / |

By deduction,with a view to the thought process of a variation of the 914,cause it was free.
"I want to build my own version of this car. I think I can,although I have no formal training in any of the disciplines needed. Well,I built a porche on the back of the house. I'll use this sheetmetal,but since I can't make it curved,I'll make it flat. Maybe I'll use this polyester grp like what the hot tub guy uses. Maybe I'll make it look just like that Ferrari I saw. Not just like,kinda like,or as close as I can get it without too much work. If I make a mistake,I will work around it because beginning again from the start is too much work. A curved surface is too hard to do so i"ll make it kinda flat,just like it looks from the side." On and on into a gross abomination of features glommed from various vehicles of the past. Plainly obvious,the results for all to see,that given a sheet of paper and a pencil was unable to draw a wheel. What you have to admire in all this is the ability to get it done,however horrible,by sheer tenacity. Let us celebrate tenacity. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) |
