Nowdays, Subie is the way to go IMO. The cost of that swap are less than half the cost of Porsche power... one main problem with Subie (aside from the watercooling surgery required) - if it does not have a Porsche engine, it is not eligible for any PCA competition events So? Step up to SCCA ...if you have the hair. The completion is much stouter in AX.I will admit that the Porsche 6 sounds much better. I just read this thread (being a Suby convert) and I never thought you'd be a Suby proponent, JP. You never know. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I'm in agreement to the sexy sound of a P-6 and I wanted one but I'm happier than a two peter'd Billy Goat with what I got for the money that I spent. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) When the day comes that this 3.0 H6 wants anything more than an alternator or compressor I'm buying another engine for $800-$1300. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) I also share your opinion on the T4. I've got one in my 76 but I'm not worried; it never leaves the garage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |

5 years ago was the time to get a cheap classic 911 and parts/engines associated with it. That time is now gone for almost all years/models. Cheap classic Porsche's in great condition are still available but it's not going to be a 911 anymore.
I collected my /6 conversion engine/parts starting back then and no way in hell would I be able to do it again today for less than 10k. |

So? Step up to SCCA ...if you have the hair. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) i got my SCCA license in 1994, my car has an SCCA logbook - GT3, it has a Porsche engine - and it is eligible for Rennsport . |
