I am going to add air filters with plexiglass tops so you can see the velocity stacks on top of the throttle bodies.

Updating this thread...

I fixed the oil leak, and this evening it was 80 degrees F here in Texas, so I moved the engine and trans outside and cleaned them.

Had to get all the oil and muck off the engine before putting it back in the car.

By 7pm, it was getting dark so I put it back in the garage.

Just another evening for a 914 owner......

Clay, in my experience driving with the flat fan; try to avoid dirt roads. The downdraft from the fan really moves dirt debris under the qtr panels...then gets picked up once again as the dust cloud gets sucked back into the fan (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
Dust gets into the serpentine belt, pulleys and the belt actually started slipping and squealing.
Couple hours cleaning up in there !
It's going to be epic eye + ear candy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

That thing is going to be dead sexy with the downdraft shroud and those throttle bodies. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/assimilate.gif)

I have about 2 weeks to put the motor back in the car for the Texas Hill Country Rally in March. After that, it will be coming back out to do the flat fan.

I wanted the oil leak fixed before the tour.

We just built a custom 3560 engine for a customer who does that rally every year.

You should weigh it while it's out. Inquiring minds are curious...

The only thing I have to weight it with would be a glass bathroom scale, so that's not going to happen. Sorry.

Voted! Clear Coat it! It looks so vintage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) Reminds of those stolen engines Pelican help find.

Last night I got new 911 sport mounts installed on the chassis, and got the engine in position to reinstall it. It should be back in the car over the next few days.

Hopefully back up and running this weekend!

So there was an issue with the motor, and I didn't take the car to the Hill Country Rally.

So I pulled the motor back out to start the Flat Fan/ITB/MS3Pro install. I didn't take pictures of the boring tear down stuff, but the motor is now down to a long block.

Here is the first thing done...

Attached Image

It needs a cam sensor to replace the one in the now deleted distributor.

Today we got the big six down to the car wash sans motor, and cleaned out all the crud that accumulated from the oil coming out of the warped cam box.

I swear that washing a car is just transferring the dirt off the car and on to the person washing the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/FERG.gif)
