@Mitox - Wow, that chassis looks beautiful and I love the green accent stripe. The best money you will ever spend on these cars is a brand new harness. 50-year-old harnesses, even when they look nice can be very problematic. You will be so far ahead with that harness. Thanks.

I agree; I didn’t want to spend the money, but thought it might be a little better than risking the entire car on an ancient patched up harness.

So, I now have much more time to work on the project. Decided to retire - so I can play with the 914 more of course.

Anyway, I’m installing the Resonix Mega sound deadening on the interior. Should be complete in a couple more days.

Everything except for the firewall is complete; I need to order a few more sound damping panels. This stuff works really well.

Time to install the access panel.

Beautiful !
Now when you look at your coveted long waiting part... I can't use that !
it's not good enough !
But...you're at the fun stage of the project, the reward is near.
Great work.
You'll look back on this period soon enough.

I’m enjoying working on it, and making it as good as I can. I’ll probably drive this one more than the 981 when it’s ready. Might even sell the 981. It’s too cold now to drive anyway - can’t wait for spring. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

I have loved reading your build thread. It's quite an inspiration for me. You did a great job on everything. I wish I had access to your restoration/fabrication guy. What an artist.

Quick question: how many ResoNix panels did you end up using in total.

I’ve missed a few days in the shop, but have now finished the firewall sound deadening and the access panel.

The second picture is of the battery location; I decided to make the battery mount removable - for whatever reason.

Also, installed the stainless fuel lines and the evaporation line that still needs to be terminated.

I finished the firewall today, so in total, I used 54 panels.. Three panels worth are scrap trimmings, so 51 in the car.

Each tile is one pound, I think. So, about 51 lb., I’m not sure how that would compare to the original stuff I removed ( the asphalt and rubber pad behind the seat).
