@tygaboy - Have you selected a color? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@Cairo94507 - Michael - For now, the engine bay will be done in a medium gray. In the end, the body exterior will likely end up in some sort of dark-ish blue. I like Porsche Lapis Blue but in a non-metallic and with a bit less purple. Such a big decision so nothing final at this point.
I pulled the engine yesterday so now it's time to tidy up everything and get the trans ready to ship. I also have a number of items that need powder coating or plating. Things should look pretty good once it's all back together.

I can't wait to see it going back together with finished parts; it's going to look epic. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

What to do when you've sacrificed both trunks in the name of water cooled HP and maximum access/style points and you want to attend some far away events?
Getting ready for some road trips!
@buddyv Robert found what I think is the best looking luggage rack and he's letting me play with it for a while.
If I can't talk him out of this one, I may have to make my own copy of this. I love how it looks like a spoiler!
Do you disagree with having a luggage rack on a hopped up 914? Have you seen @SirAndy Andy's car? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Hmm, wonder what else @buddyv has been hiding in his stash? I think it looks great. A bit bold but luckily, your car can pull that off easily! Time to drill some holes in that deck lid..

Chris - well if you're considering that, then the logical extension is, surely:

Attached Image

Build the rack on a second roof panel, then you can simply swap out for local or touring use.....! Extra lights and front bar are optional. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Thinking you can fabricate a huge stainless suitcase to match. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) that clicks or latches into tracks on your rear lid! Two strip of stainless (rubber lined) that run front to rear on top of the lid. Sleeker, purposeful and more modern like your car.

The only suitable cargo solution is a trailer made from the rear half of a 914. With flares, of course.

Or just travel with your credit card.

@Superhawk996 - I don't know what you're talking about.
OK, so yes, I am going to test fit the engine and trans. Low probability the stock intake will fit but I'll know a lot more about all this in the next day or so.
Gotta say, the trans looks straight out of a race car. If the ring & pinion area looks huge, it's because it is; part of it serves as a the dry sump tank.

Get a second trunk lid and paint it with the car so you can install when the rack isn't needed. Or, design a couple of rails that you can attach the rack to when needed. Oh wait, you don't like design projects....my bad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Holy McEngineSwap, it fits. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) I would have bet big $ this wasn't going to be the result, but here we are. The whole drive train needs to come up maybe another inch but it all looks totally workable. The axle angle looks better than with the LS/Boxster, the rear of the trans clears the body work and it looks like it'll all work with a stock fire wall location. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Good thing, because I've sourced another 914 and this drivetrain is going in!
I'll be starting a separate build thread for that one.

My existing car will keep its LS/Boxster set up and continue to be refined.

But wowzers, this is so f-ing COOL!
