And I want to buy a copy of the guard you built for the front of the passenger floorboard. I worry about people with fat feet stomping my ECU. Clay @ClayPerrine Clay - I'd be honored to make a part for your car. That said, the design I worked up for my guard fits the shape of the console cover I made as well as the distance the guard sits from the front of the foot well/inner fender. If you work up a set of dimensions for your application, I can make something and prove out the fit in one of my buddies cars that has a stock tunnel. I think all I need is a distance measurement from a couple/few known points in the foot well. If this sort of approach works for you, PM me and we can noodle on what you want and the details I'll need. Chris |

Back together and on the road again. WOW!
That little transmission part wasn't only impacting the reverse lane. With everything corrected, the shifting is better than ever - and it was good before! I have to say, this car is really impressing me and I think I've reached a major milestone: Fabrication is complete. It's been such a long journey and I've had some pretty high expectations for the car along the way. When I first got it on the road, it was so unrefined that I reallly didn't like it and was quite disappointed. Hence the "maybe I'll sell it" phase. But I got past that and each of the many "get it running then take it apart and change things" stages I've put it through have made significant improvements in drivability and overall civility. I actually think I'm done with fabrication mods. All that's left to do: - open up the inner fenders to improve in-town air flow - add an oil cooler - add a trans cooler (and this is still a maybe) Then, I think it's ready to be blown apart for paint. I've narrowed the color down to three options but think I'll save revealing the final choice until it's painted. |

actual bucket list = ride (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) I have ideas for your paint! LOL. Yeah? The new unsaturated colors are cool that you see Toyota using a lot. Hmm. That car needs to not be blingy, so my only request is don't make it too shiny. It must sleep. |

All that's left to do: - open up the inner fenders to improve in-town air flow I'd like the challenge you to think about just blowing large holes into the inner wheel housings to let air out. You've added a lot of structure to the rear of the car. Unless I'm mistaken, the front isn't fully tubed. Yes, up to the upper strut mounts but those upper strut mounts do not handle lateral load. All lateral load is distributed via the front LCA attachments to the Frunk /front pan area which than takes that load and moves it up into the wheelhouse and front bulkhead area in front of the tank. You don't want to make any of that front lateral load path weaker than it needs to be. Having one end of the car much stiffer than the other is a recipe for poor handling. I'm betting you can come up with a cool ducted solution that minimizes the size of the holes if you need more outlet air area. It's really coming together and looking great. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) @Superhawk996 - Fair points. I still haven't landed on exactly what I'll remove but it probably won't be much. The hood vents do most of the heavy lifting. And I, too, am a fan of replacing/increasing strength so we'll see. I do appreciate the poke about it. Thanks for keeping me honest! |

BIG NEWS! The giant potholes are filled and the speed bump has been removed! 22 years I've been driving over that thing. Crap, I'm going to miss it... literally! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Air volume only increases 20% when hot, so you might not see a difference with bigger exit holes. 25-35 mph is usually when air flow from moving is greater than the fans.
oil cooler is good for 10 degree water temp drop. I run one. All that's left to do: - open up the inner fenders to improve in-town air flow - add an oil cooler - add a trans cooler (and this is still a maybe) |

In my case, the oil cooler is primarily for the oil. On hot days, if I'm on it hard, the oil temp starts to climb so I'd like a bit more capacity and cooling. |

And after a few miles with the re-rebuilt trans? Best shifting trans ever? Well, top 5 anyway. Man, this is such a cool car. It's funny, I walk right past the E9 and hop in the 914 everytime...
And those of you who know me know what that means. Yep, the E9 is "available to buy". I'm not advertising it or putting it on BAT. I just put the word out to a couple folks that if the right price were offered... and, wouldn't you know it, I have a serious buyer coming to see it next week. You're thinking "What? You just got it back with all the cool stuff done to it!" Yep, that's true. But as I've said many times, I'm about the journey, not the destination and I can now add "E9" to my life experiences! And if the offer is what I expect it will be, I'll have a bit more room in my head and my garage! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) If it doesn't sell, I'll keep chipping away at improving it. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you need me, I'll be all over the Ferrari build! Attached thumbnail(s) |

A fun morning at EASY. I met a bunch of new folks and the car got a fair bit of attention. This pic was posted on FaceBook before I even got home - so I swipped it.
Anyway, it's running really well and everything continues to work! I think I may add an oil cooler w/thermostat as temps seem to creep up when I'm pushing it on warmer days. And I'm going to chip away at completing the interior. In other news, I sold the E9. Room in the garage... whatever will I do with that? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) |

Time to select exterior paint color. Current leading candidates:
Slate Gray - I believe this has a slight hint of green. Overall, the color is a subtle but sorta "tough guy" look. Aubergine (or whatever the pictured 914 is painted) - because Slate Gray is too subtle! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And this is a fairly uncommon color but looks good with the matte black hood vents/interior trim and most any wheel color. I go back and forth between doing up my Ronals in bronze or a bit lighter anthracite, swapping to Group 4s... Anyway, a pretty big decison that isn't easy to "Tygaboy do-over"! So I'll noodle on this a bit longer. Attached image(s) |

My vote is the same color as your BMW( marathon blue?)
Its killer no matter what color you paint it. Totally amazing work coming out of the Red Barn Bob B (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |
