I'm doing my 5 lug conversion. A buddy gave me a set of 16 x 6 Fuchs. (please don't hate me...) I also have a set of 205 front/215 rear tires. Before mounting them, does anyone know if the 215s will fit under stock rear fenders?

205/55R16 will fit, though it will be tight in the rear. You may need to pull the fenders or at least roll their lips. Every car is a bit different—but it can definitely be done.

205/50R16 are preferred by some people, and may have fewer fitment issues, but always looked a bit off to my eyes.

I tried 215/60R15 on a 911R wheel, and it was waaaaaay too tight for my liking in the rear. Hit the brake line on the trailing arm, and while it fit, there was no room for the tire to "walk" under cornering loads and suspension compression.

I'd stick to 205s all around...but YMMV.

Also, the very low profile tires just don't look correct on a 914 (in my humble opinion).

What ever size rim you use IIHO a 24" tall tire fills the wheel arch correctly on a street car.

I like that a lot! (it's even the right color!).

Did you have to mess with the fenders at all? Wait, those are 7". You must have done something...

I could only get a 205/45 on my 16x7s on my car and it is really tight on the PS

Unfortunately, all 914s are slightly different. What works on one may very well not work on another. And 215s on any wheels are iffy at best, unless you're OK with pulling the fender out a bit.

Even for 205s, the fender lip usually has to be folded under or cut off.

Dang, may now have to consider keeping my real 7x16's - neat look, likee the polished look & narrow body.

Picture of my 72 with 6x16 all around with 205/55 on it. This was taken before I bought the car. I'm running new P7's on it now. Looks "right" to me.

Thanks everybody. I think I'll risk testing the 215s on the rear, just to see.
I'll keep you posted!
