Does anyone have the (2) rubber rain tray spacers / washers? I purchased a pair last year from a vendor on ebay but lost one while cleaning the plastic tray this winter. The ebay vendor doesn't carry them any longer.

If you don't find one you can make a rubber spacer from some spare rubber hose, fuel line, air line, water line, etc. Just find the correct diameter and cut a slice off.

Yes, they probably are the same size. I'll post a photo and the size of the one that I have.

These would allow for a lower angle of the tray in the back. I do believe that there were some on one I took apart, but not sure if it was that way from the factory. Seeing this and looking at the angle I suspect that it may be factory.

FYI P/N 914.512.182.10 Not same part as rocker panel spacers according to PET. Two used only in rear. Part discontinued by Porsche.
Stoddard and Sierra Madre list reproductions on their sites.

Mark, I haven't looked but I'm sure I have them on my car. Do you need them for reference? Would be glad to send as long as I would get them back. My car is in the shop for an oil change though so would not get to them until Monday or Tuesday.

I think the reason for them is to help space the away from the frame supports of the engine lid. If you look at this area carefully, if the spacer isn't there then the tray isn't supported under the fastener as you install the fastener. Tightening the fastener would lead to (most likely) a stress crack in the tray around that boss.

I didn't have the factory part, but went to the local ACE hardware store. They had plastic spacers/washers in different thicknesses. They're white plastic versus the black factory rubber, but they perform the same function as the factory part. I'll post a pic, this will help explain the supported/unsupported part...

This is the side closest to the battery. You can see that the rain tray has a step in this area. You can also see the captive nut that's welded onto the engine lid, and the support for the engine lid. My spacer is the white plastic piece in the photo.

The middle fastener should t need a spacer as there is no step in the rain tray and there is no engine lid support around the captive nut.

This is the drivers side. It has the rubber block that prevents an open trunk lid from impacting an open engine lid. That rubber arm has a square hole in it that if I remember correctly fits perfectly over the captive nut. I don't have the PET in front of me, but I remember looking at it before I tackled this project (powder coating the grills, adding the 'Porsche' lettering, adding the welting, the back edge protector, adding a rain tray and associated hardware). My car didn't have any of it but the poorly painted grills that were only fastened in one or two places. It rattled something fierce when the car was running!

Great point. I neglected to note that you need longer screws on the end pieces. I bought new screws and washers (stainless!) at ACE hardware too. My car was missing all of that! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
