dude, I agree with what they all said, it's your car, paint it pink with PURPLE polka dots if you dig that... silver is a great color on almost any car, very clean look and works great on 914s...
James Adams' car is a gorgeous example of a silver 914... very nice! I have no problems with repaints... let's face it, some of the stock colors ARE NOT for everyone... you have to REALLY love ravenna green to stick with it... I couldn't do it... shades of blue are great, Joe's cars are beautiful examples... the gun-metal colors are cool too... but it's what you like... if you are looking for a cool Silver, Chrysler has a silver that's very nice, I have it on my DD, it gets cool light purple hues in the sun, esp. if you have polarized shades... Your car looks awsome and the way that you drive you are a threat to TTOD. You will have the attention of all the big buck A/Xers. I promissed myself if I could do TTOD I would paint the car PINK. If your going to change it make it BRIGHT AND THREATENING.

The blue is lovely (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif), silver is boooooring. The Martini copy(or any other racecar scheme) is presumptuous.
I've become quite the art critic now that my car is one color...well, only 2 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) |

Yes I would do it - In fact I did it. Went from white to signal orange because for years when i thought of 914s I always remembered the signal orange ones. -Now I got one!
A color change should not be an issue as long as it is done correctly. And it sounds like your going about it as thoroughly as one can. Considering the other changes that are made, I don't understand the reluctance by some to do a color change. What is special about the color change? We don't seem to mind putting in a non original motor, or change the color or material of the interior, or upgrade the suspension, or use other wheels, etc.... If you prefer another color, change it too. |

Marv, do it up ala Rothmans 956/ 962 or even way back Sunoco 917/30. The 914 lines are perfect for the stripes/ overlays . The transitioning of colors will be mucho fun to color sand (read: work) , but unique when done (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
Anyway , that 3.6 at speed will make onehelluva colorful rainbow ! Marty |

When I took my 914-6 to metal I had a tough time deciding what color(original was ivory)....But I chose tangerine(blood orange) , I still love it, and would do it again! But it's a personal choice. Good luck...............robert d.

I do like orange 914GT's like Steve Siversons, believe me I have looked at every car in the "Members 914 pictures thread" and its hard to make the decision. As of now I'm down to my original blue and silver. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) |

You might want to check this web site: www.alsacorp.com. They have the coolest stuff around. We bought their ghost chrome paint for our stair rail, wow! Paint over black base and get stainlees steel. Paint over white base and get aluminum. They have color changing paint sensitive to temperature. Many other amazing paints.

C'mon, no boy-racer paint jobs on a street legal car. It will soon turn on you and look ridiculous. No arguments with silver. Black rockers, hopefully? Possibly black btwn tail lenses. Only problem with orange: see the wcc05 picture? 10 or so in a row - enough already. Gold metallic and olive metallic (delphi) are non-starters?
