Hi Larmo63 - Yeah, if my original is UTL, then I would try to source an alloy crossmember for sure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

That's very interesting.. I never knew that..always amazes me how many -6 specific parts porsche made for 3000 some odd cars.. Talk about tooling expenses through the roof..

It looks the same as a 911 crossmember so maybe its just a 6 specific part number

Wow! Now that is what I'm talking about. That front end looks very nice - like new really.

Thanks Kent for all of the hard work straightening this absolute mess out and for posting the pics for others to see what real craftsmanship looks like.

Pretty soon the fun stuff will begin. See you on Saturday -

Cheers,
Michael

I'm really starting to hate this thread. Just when I feel like I'm doing decent work on my own car, I come over here and realize what an amateur I am. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) Seriously though, it is really nice to watch this "no compromises" build progress under a true master.

May well be, I know the 911 ones swap on to a wide range of cars, including first Gen cars (I put an SC alloy one on my '66 912 as a proof point).

Would be good to run down...

Great progress - exciting to see.

Thanks Brent but I just checked out your thread and your really doing a lot of work on your car. Great rust prevention and your attacking all the bad areas. That will be a great car when your done and "you" did it. Keep up the great work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I thought that if you run a 911 cross member that you can't use the 914 pan/cover because the bolt holes don't line up, but I could be mistaken.

I thought that referred to an aluminum crossmember but I don't have any first hand experience.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) Heck, I don't know. I am hoping Scotty finds and ships my original crossmember so I never have to worry about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Man that underseal flexible rubberized "stuff" looks so nice. I can't wait to touch it in person. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Catylised urethane tintable bed liner slightly under reduced and tinted with a beige toner and sprayed at a very low pressure through an undercoating gun.
