Trying to get the muffler flanges to the correct angle. My approach, I bought 4 flanges cause I figured I'm at least 2 crashes away from final. I have to mount the diffuser before I can install the mufflers in order to get the correct height location for the holes in the diffuser. I have the center lines but I can't get the height of the top of the hole untill the mufflers are installed. The diffuser slips on over the mufflers.

This is where I did the geometry for the mufflers. Right where I could use it for the angle and the location of the intersection points on the opening for the mufflers.

Got some more work going on the right direction. Have the diffuser mounting going on and it's looking pretty Kool.

Looking at it I'm thinking about cut outs for the mufflers and air exit from in the body.

78,000 viewers, WOW!!! Thank you all so much. I drilled the holes in the diffuser. Now I hope it fits. Trying to put it where I think it will look the best.

QUOTE(914 Ranch @ Sep 6 2024, 04:45 AM) *

I've been getting the mufflers ready for bracketing. You know, I like lightening holes so I am really enjoying the loud option on the Super traps. Just bring a hole it puts a smile on my face. Visually it appears attractive to me. We'll see later if I still like them after listening to them.

I am waiting for prime to deliver a new blade for my band saw, then I get to attack the brackets and the flanges. Oh, still waiting on the flanges too.
These mufflers are so Kool man.

I bet they sound great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks Paul, yeah really. My ears are wet like their drooling. I have to finish the diffuser first. No wait, I have to level up that to make the strakes correct. So I'll hear it then but I'm having a hard time waiting. This is where it's at today.

It still needs the front mount done. Not happy with the mounting as it is as it's elevation has to do with the fit at the top. 2 more quick release buttons at the top.

Tried to start her but the battery is dead. I guess I'm on for a shock as I haven't bought a red top in ten years. Probably get start up in the morning.

80,000 viewers coming right up. I can't believe what a monster this has become. It got more than 300 viewers today.

I love the way the diffuser latches. I was laying behind the diffuser trying to adjust the front mount. Already had the elevation working on the distance to the rear. Reached up to latch the one above my head and 3 of the latches clicked. I reached up with my right foot and touched the button and it latched. Wow, probably never happen again. There's a little work left on the diffuser's front mounts but I'm already thinking about the frame going in under the engine bay.

I haven't used google to search for this thread in years so I did it twice too be sure and because of what I found I'm changing the title to this thread.
Much better, during my first time using google I had just left the thread and google took me right back. A few minutes later doing it again the search brought up pages of things about child pron. Personally I don't do any porn.
Sorry, gosh...

Thanks Scott, Everytime I think of it I laugh. I never thought I was so perverted... Wait a minute, I said I liked all the holes. I don't feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulder but I am glad to have changed the title.

I haven't been happy about my muffler mounting. The slip joint is a swivel and l couldn't keep from slipping off. It was getting to thread lock before it clamped down. So I modded it, added a washer, counter sunk the wedge to allow threads to get deeper into it, ground some stuff to relieve it. Reassembled it and it was tighter but I could still pull it off by hand. In my infinite wisdom, I tried to locate all of the mounting inside the diffuser and it looked pretty good. Race cars don't have to be pretty, so my bracketing is going to be exposed. Everytime I looked at the flanges the mufflers were coming out. Deduction, my brackets and the weight of the tail of the muffler were pulling it out of the slip joint. So I weighed the muffler, 5 lbs 8 oz with the center of gravity 6 7/8 " forward of the tail of the muffler. I'm making a bracket that picks up the muffler an inch behind the c g and I have a better solution for attaching the springs. So the mufflers should always be firmly against the flange. The material for the new brackets arrived tomorrow, the drawing for the cutting is in the picture. It's ready to be glued to the material as soon as it arrives. Getting serious about nutcerts, had the tools for awhile now I have been practicing with them. The new brackets are the most difficult brackets that I have attempted. The brackets, not ready for the lightening holes as the brackets won't shape well with the holes.

First of all, Mary Christmas to all y'all, I'm going to receive a gift from all of you as this thread will go over 84,000 viewers today. Back to the brackets, I made 8 before I decided to learn about annealing aluminum. Made one backwards, broke 3 bending the tabs and cracked 3 more that broke during assembly.

Does not work. Still working on a way to link a video. More tomorrow.

Upload the video to Youtube (if you have a Youtube account)

Then you can copy & paste the link on your thread. I'm trying to remember how to frame the link and will follow up when I do ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif)

EDIT:

Looks like you can just copy your video from Youtube once you upload it. - Click [SHARE], copy the link then paste it in your thread.
