I can't imagine that at 1000.00 a set more or less...
It wouldn't be profitable to make a set of dies and make them
available by a vendor with the means to do it..
I realize there is a small market for these.. But there has to be
a market willing to buy from anywhere else but...

Just saying...

I wish they would but I don't think they will. They can make a profit on the existing flares without the big start up cost of making dies, etc. I imagine AA sells some parts that RD makes.

Whoever actually stamps them out, we should be glad that they’re available as the Porsche factory ones seemed to be as rare as hens teeth. Kudos to anyone that was willing to pay for the dies that were necessary. The fact that any parts are available 40 years after the last 914s were produced is quite amazing.

patrick re sells a lot of normal stuff they claim as their own....

Yes. Some of it they repackage as a kit and call it a PMS exclusive. Like the 915 cableshifter or the 3.2 conversion clutch kit. But they are a very cool company and offer the parts in a one stop format instead of the scavenger hunt that is often needed to find parts for our cars.

If Restoration Design does not stamp the parts there what is this?

"We invite you to visit our facility and view these in action"

We have a fully capable facility to handle a large range of tasks and products, with advanced machines including:
5-axis Mitsubishi Laser Cutter
CNC Lathe
500 ton Hydraulic Press
Two 200 ton Hydraulic Presses
Two 50 ton Hydraulic Presses
Two 3-axis CNC Milling Machines
We invite you to visit our facility and view these in action, or check out our media page which will be updated regularly with photos and videos directly from the shop!

They do a lot of their own parts but Pete told me a couple years ago that the flares come from AA.

Yup. They make MOST of the stuff they sell, but not all of it.
All the BMW2002 stuff thy stock comes from W&N in Germany. Flares are AA.

There was a video a few years back about how AA made the steel flares. It was cool, and a lot more involved then I had thought.

If your balls are made out of steel and pressed into shape, then yes ...

I am assuming you don't realize that some die sets can cost over 100k. Especially when you have 4 sets of dies..

I remember in the video that they were pressed 2 or 3 times and hand trimed plus other work done to them. Even after the dies are made, it’s still a lot of labor.

AA claims to have spent 100k on the dies, which is reasonable with the cnc time and polishing after. They also seem to have gotten it right.

I also thought it was RD stamping them but that is not the case as told in a previous thread. They just resell the AA flares.

Lots of car manufactures in the SE, I doubt it was hard for G to find a stamper.

Lots of retailers stock them, so just find the cheapest price shipped.
