RE: the car above, is it just me (or the pics) or do those flares look like they were installed a bit too far rearward. The wheels don't look centered... Yes, you are correct. I suppose this is an illustration of something to avoid. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) When I located my flares, I aligned the GT flare openings to the original fender openings in every way. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) a nice new pic below! this car almost makes me wish I went with yellow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Attached image(s) |

Is this a painted or bead blasted finish on these wheels? Did you remove the annodized finish first? That’s anodized. It’s commonly called the RSR finish. Can be done with paint. |

I looked at the suspect flares install on the silver car. I don't think the flares are on the wrong sides. However it certainly looks like they did not trim or cut the flares to position the wheel openings to match the original openings. I had to trim off about .75" on the rear leg of both rear flares to bring the openings lower to match up to OE. It was quite a bit of extra work but I am happy to have done so, it looks noticeably better.
Also as was mentioned before, the silver car also positioned the flare openings too far aft. FWIW, Here is another pic to keep the thread theme going (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Attached image(s) |

7s and 8s x 15 with 206 60 and 225 60 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) I used to like slightly lower profile but now I think the 60's are the perfect size. |

What is right for a narrow body car w/flat 6's? I had 205/55/15. replied to your cross-post in originality section is your question "what fits? " or What is oem correct?" or "what tire fits a 15x6 wheel & still fits in the fenderwell" ??? 15x5.5 or 14x5.5 wheels are period correct if your objective is concours - good performance street tires for those are a challenge see https://www.vtowheels.com/Porsche-914-Narro...itment_b_5.html |

Man, that's a great looking car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Are you running BFG Radial T/As? Been wondering how T/As are on a 914...as they look super right because their design goes so far back. I have long wondered if their compounding has been improved, and how they stack up against other "vintage look" options out there (Pirellis, Avons) as well as some of the more modern options. Thanks for posting, and any feedback you've got would be more than appreciated! |

16 x 7 and 8s
Bob B
What size tire are you using? Spacer in the front? Thank you. I purchased my wheels, now the hard part - tire sizes.
No spacers. Sorry it took so long for me to post the size of the new tires that Eric picked out for my 16s. I think they look very good. Size and brand. Misc. 225/50R-16 DUNLOP DIREZZA ZIII SL Misc. 205/50R-16 DUNLOP DIREZZA ZIII SL Well, this is the first day I was able to get a feel of these tires and I think that they are outstanding. That and the Elephant suspension up front and in the back. Bob B |
