Everyone... Please be sure to post both the wheel size and tire size that are used on the 914 in your pictures (If known). Like Olympic 914 did in his great looking 914. It really helps to know both when selecting the right fit. Thanks Good point, I did not ask initially because I thought the thread might lose focus from wheels widths. But I agree that proper tire sizes can really enhance the look of the wheels and car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) So in that theme, here are some pics sourced from erwan914's thread here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=301336 He is running 7 & 8 x 15 fuchs with tire sizes: front 205/50/15 rear 225/50/15 Attached image(s) |

Hi guys, I'll be running 8 & 9" x 16" Fuchs on a car with GT flares and need to decide on tire sizes. Would 225/50 (front) and 245/50 (rear) look nice? I'm also considering 225/45 and 245/50, but I'm not sure how that would look. Appreciate any guidance and thoughts. Thanks! 8 & 9 x 16 are under serious consideration with me as well. If I were to go that wheel size, I would do 225/45-16 front and 245/45-16 rear. This would make the front a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the rear. More pics! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) gothspeed, Are all of the cars in the pics running 225/45-16 front and 245/45-16 rear? If so, that's what I'm going with! but now im considering going 7 & 8 x 15" wheels with 205/50-15 front and 225/50-15 rear tires, like the green car above ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) from another post: eric shea's tire size mentioned here: ............................. Yep aware of the aspect ratio....trying for the basic stock diameter target of approx 25" I "talked" to Eric Shea and he is using 195/65/15 F and 215/60/15 R on his beautiful yellow 914-6 GT...this was mainly because he had some 7/8x15 Fuchs with tires on them from a 911 and they worked and no added extra expense....I'm all for that. ............................ Glenn Stazak told me this blau metallic. I love it. It's what color I am going to paint my GT car. ........ gothspeed.....thanks for the pictures... do you know what #64 (blau metallic) has for it's wheel tire set-up Thanks...John I tried to zoom into the pic (#64 blau) and numbers looked like a 195/50r-15 in front but the picture was very pixeled and I cannot say for sure. they look much larger than 195/50r-15. More like maximum tire size for those wheels widths ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) EDIT: now knowing those tires are some euro size designation. I zoomed in again and the rears are definitely: 23/62 R15 and the front "appear" to be 16/60 R15 someone else can chime in about euro tire sizes. I thought the normal 205/50-15 was a metric designation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

I've been hearing for years that 16x6's -- which used to be the cheap undesirable ones -- have been swooped-up to make custom 3-piece 17's and so forth. Here's part of my stash off and on the car. I exclusively use 15x8" Fuchs and 15x9 Braid now and have some black centered and some RSR style. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm5.staticflickr.com-21-1516857853.2.jpg) So what tire sizes are you running on those 8 & 9 x 15?? ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ^^^ I think Adriatic Blue is a really nice GT color, I think its a little lighter that the one pictured above. Anyone want to guess tire sizes on these black beauties below? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunglasses.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Yep I tried to zoom in too and it's not easy to see... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It may be running some type of race tires...since some come in different size designations.. Like in the Dunlop and Avons... I've used Hoosier and Goodyear racing tires in the past for the track and they had some wierd sizing numbers...you just have to get all of the tire dimensions and then choose accordingly. And sponsorship money helps pay for them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I really like seeing all of these GT pictures (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

The orange car has nice looking wheel/tire choices and the black car also has wheel/tire choices that look 'just right' IMO.
Orange car are 8&9 x15 wheels but I have not seen tire sizes. Black car wheels seem to be 7&8 but because of the side view they might also be 8&9 x 15s Now if I can figure out the tire sizes for both of these ... $400+ is pricey for one tire...but that's the way it goes with vintage race tires... and like you said on the Blue GT...hey what else would you do.. anyone looked at or tried using BFG Radial TA....sort of the old "chain link" tread look put the white letters inside...decent sizes in these. the 8" are the problem size wheel and also trying to maintain an average tire diameter of approximately 25" |

Orange one is chris's/campbellcj car Hi all, On my Phoenix Red racecar #673 above, the tires I'm currently using are: Hoosier Circuit Racing Radial Slick, S80 compound P/N 43558 215/580R15 Front P/N 43568 245/580R15 Rear Previously I used the Hoosier R6 in 225 Front and 245 Rear. I wanted to jam a 255 or 275 in back, but they wouldn't clear. Before that it was a narrowbody car and I ran whatever Hoosier Rx flavor was current at the time, in a square 205 front/rear setup on 15x7's. The rear fender lips were rolled and slightly pulled for clearance back then. |

Thanks for posting tire sizes. I looked those up and dimensions are as follows: Front: Tire Size 215/580R15 Tread Pattern bb - Slick Tread Width 8.6" Approximate Diameter 22.9" Rear: Tire Size 245/580R15 Tread Pattern bb - Slick Tread Width 9.4" Approximate Diameter 22.9" They 'appear' larger diameter in your pics but well balanced none the less. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Here is a flared -6 with what looks like 8s x 15 all the way around (tires are 225/50-15) Bear in mind that 'section width' is critical in terms of body clearance as well as appearance. These Hoosiers are actually just about 10" wide at the largest point, when mounted on 8's/9's. The Hoosier R6/R7 DOT tires also are particularly known for having a wider section width than most other tires of a similar stated spec/size. |
