The knock-off just don't work well with those Minilights/repros Curtis.

I Already weighed-in on your Fuchs 2L post, but those 8-spokers would look better with a grey or black flat top center cap which doesn't take over the look of the wheels, like the spinners do.

I'm also not a fan of shaving the warts - if for no other reason than visibility & safety at dusk/night/dawn with those sidemarkers. But it's your 914!

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

That is a good-looking 914 big bumper. Yellow and the stripe, Great contrast of yellow/black.

A little work on the wheels and you will have the nicest look short of Blue.

Not only did I take off the warts but the big rubber bumpers too and added Euro lights. Guess I'm really in trouble. Since we no longer have safety inspections in Colorado I'll probably get away with it. Air pump was removed by PO so I changed the heads to match. I'd post a pix if I was smart enough. Been having problems since switch to Mac.

If I was going to repaint I would for sure fill in the side markers, never liked them.

I'm not a fan of the warts either, but I see both sides of the argument. I might shave mine when I re-paint my car.

As for the knock offs, I wouldn't, sometimes less is more.

Your car looks really nice and clean, Curtis!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

Hasn't anyone done a "frenched" wart? Maybe a little smaller diameter sunken flush with the body...

I think I've seen this somewhere. Maybe not truly frenched, but definitely replaced with a smaller / more appropriate looking marker.

I shaved my warts and my antenna hole. I'm also backdating my bumpers and running a non-stock 2056cc without fuel injection or emissions equipment. Let's just say I won't be winning any concours competitions.

A bit OT...... This red car has two mods that I usually dislike, the body color rockers / valences and polished alloys......but it looks great and very appealing....maybe the missing warts makes the whole thing work so well.
Beautiful car !

Shaved off the warts. Also, I know it's up to me, but I'd still like your opinions. I added knock off centers to the Empi wheels instead of plain center caps. You like em, or no?

I like the look, but it is mostly that I like the car as a whole. For those who diss the knockoffs I only point out a James Bond movie to illustrate the advantage. They do extend I hope! The sidelights do add a safety factor. Really nice looking car.

But did you notice the machines guns (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) hidden behind the foglights?

Shaved warts? Yes. Much cleaner look.

Knock offs? Two thumbs down. Don’t work with the wheels.

I say NO to the knock offs .
I like the warts gone but "OK" with them .. your preference and a decision I won't need to make as I am not planning on doing a repaint.

I am intrigued with the option of the mentioned "smaller / flatter" lenses mentioned ... any info on what may work ?

It does look very clean without the warts. Given the overall size of the 914 compared to newer cars, I do think you need to be more careful making turns and changing lanes.

QUOTE(Jeff Bowlsby @ Mar 22 2018, 05:19 PM) *

The light are good and look right on a USA 914.

Sorry for the cold water bath but...removing them is a technical violation of USA vehicle laws. Now whether or not you would be cited is another matter that would depend on circumstances. Kind of like removing the emission equipment from a pre-'76 car.

The sidemarker lights are there for safety reasons. USA laws require the lights so that the turnsignals and running lights can be seen from another vehicle facing yours, approaching from the side. Thats why new cars have wrap around lights front and rear nowadays.

Your car, your choice, your risk. YMMV.

While stuck in L.A traffic today I remembered this thread and started looking at all the cars for any type of side reflectors or side lights. After looking at 1000 plus cars I saw very few with anything on the sides. As for wrap around lights, the 914 rear light has just as much of a side wrap or more then a lot of cars I looked at, and our front turn signals/runnng lights are even more pronounced then most cars.

Plus given the fact that 99% of cops wouldn’t no what a 914 is and 100% probably never even gave a 914 a hard look they wouldn’t even no if the car even came with them.

To me this is a non issue. As far as a front license plate, your call, I have been running without them since I was 16 in Calif and was never even questioned about it. Growing up in Orange, Calif I got my far share of tickets. My feeling is most cops appreciate a nice car and know a front license plate takes away from the look. Of course if your a dick to them, you deserve every technical violation in the book.

I hated the look of the warts and have never regretted removing mine. If you were concerned for safety, some here have added a small rectangular amber light aft of the front wheels. Maybe somebody has a photo. I don't remember what car they are from. They look pretty good.
