Hello all,
I'm new to the board, live in the Seattle area. I'm a longtime Porsche guy (911s, 944s, Caymans, a 928), and have been interested in 914s for a long while. Glad to see there are several folks on the board from in the area. But--how come I never see your 914s on the street? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Price-wise, it looks like the 914 is headed he way of the air cooled 911s, which is kind of a shame. I miss the days of old when a nice air-cooled 911 was a $15-20K car, and a nice 914 could be had for peanuts. Oh well . . . I'll keep hanging around watching others until the right 914 comes along. |

You should contact Kelty360 and checkout the 75' 2.0 he's selling. I'm sure Mark would put it on his lift for a serious viewing. If only to see what the market has to offer locally. More car for the money than most of the local Craigslist ads for 914s. If you buy local you save on shipping from out of state and travel costs to view what is a major purchase these days.

Check the classifieds on here, 914club.com , TheSamba.com , evil-bay, etc., since they come up all the time, but the value trend is upward, as you noted. Your local PCA Region/Zone &/or Panorama may have them FS from time to time as well, plus the local events. If you're not a PCA member, then it's worth the $46/yr for 2 & the monthly Panorama & local magazines, & various free, & fee member only events. Cheers! Thanks for the thoughts, guys. I looked at Kelty360's car, and it's beautiful. Alas, it's far too original and nice for what I want (and out of my price range). My plan is to build a mild hot rod, as I am currently in the process of doing with my 1985 911.
Tom, I'm a long-time PCA member. It's definitely been worth the money all these years! |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) Great approach. A nice 914 will pop up soon enough. Enjoy.

Yeah... tell us more about the 911 - and check out those planes in the background! [/quote] It's a 1985, 108K, Seattle car all its life, very nice shape. I have done a cleanup of the engine. I also added the sports seats, reupholstered with houndstooth inserts. I'm sort of going through the car section by section, cleaning/painting/refinishing parts as I go. The airplanes are at Paine Field, near my house, and are a B-25 that is part of a local flying museum, and a B-52 that was being dismantled for movement to another museum. |

I grew up within walking distance to Paine field and my parents still live in the same place. I visit there frequently just haven’t driven my 914 up in a long time. Love the 911! |

Thank you. That engine bay refresh started as a simple tune up and chase-down of vacuum leaks, and ended up swallowing about $2K in plating, powder-coating, injector rebuilding, and parts replacement. (My wife objected to what she termed as "car cosmetics." My counter that she had spent more than that on cosmetics over the years was a poorly received parry.) Future plans are for electric air conditioning and individual throttle bodies. I write for 911 & Porsche World Magazine on an irregular basis, and this car will be featured in some upcoming issues, as perhaps will the dissolution of my marriage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) In any event, as will my current fixation with 914s. My goal with a 914 would be to find a decent but cheap car, as my 911 was, and bring it up to a similar modest level. Not an outlaw, but more of a misdemeanor car. I realize rust is an issue I didn't face with the later--galvanized 911--but I have some nascent welding skills that I could bring to bear. |
