Looking for my build date for the six. 9140432481. Anyone close to this with an accurate date? I know that Porsche built out of order sometimes on Vin numbers...Newer COA's aren't worth the paper they are printed on anymore. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I'm just curious to see if a couple of you are really close I could get a reasonable guess.

yes they certainly were built out of sequence. If I were to guess the build date, based on the number of cars built and the months they were built, I would guess May of 1970

My six #2347 has a build date of 6/70. Check the listings on the World’s extensive data base for your car. I suspect either a June or July build date.

good evidence, means that there was more production in the later months than the earlier ones. I took the whole production divided it by the months they were produced and came up with late may. July builds were slacked off so I would adjust my guess now to the end of June
Will be fun to find out a closer date. The sixes we have here are all earlier 70 models or 71 and 72 models

this is crazy, but a frenchman just walked in the door to show me the six he just purchased for restoration, it is 2602 with a July build date so that zeros in a bit

Thanks for your reply sbsix. I have been on the worlds vin data base but unfortunately where it says "details to the right" I am unable to scroll to that part of the screen to access that function??

* thanks for your guess and "timely French info" George.

Narrowing it down slightly. Hoping for a few more data points... Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Are you using a custom zoom setting for your browser? The font seems awfully large in your screenshot.

If so, try zooming out a bit to see more of the page ...

I didn't realize you have to click the members screen name on the vin # first to get to the detail function... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

That's probably because you don't ...
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

There is an actual link to the right that gets you to the details and that link is NOT showing on your screenshot.

Again, it looks like you are using a CUSTOM ZOOM SETTING ...

0919

Porsche AG writes:
"... was delivered to the intermediary of Porsche Dealers, Messrs. MAHAG of Munich, 1 Mar 1970"

so 0919 was off the assembly line prior to March 1. '70 ... by at least a few days

- Kraftfahrzeugbrief I, Nr. 40086754 shows "date of first sale" = 8 Mai 1970, to Richard Riefler, Techn. Angestellter, Mittleberg
