List the car on Turo and I’d bet you’ll make enough $ to make the payments on a new car.

Your selling to a niche market that will only pay $30k for a conversion car.

I have well over that into my car as well. I won't count the receipts or man hours. I'll never get my money back. That's not why I built and rebuilt the car.

There are exceptions to every thing in life... I think this might be one of those. Very nice looking car and from the sounds of it very well built. I would try BAT. GLWTS

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Wow!!! What a nice car!!! May not make it to $60k, but that car will sell to some lucky person with appreciation for the time and effort put into it. The BAT crowd may be the route if someone around here doesn't snap it up. Good Luck. I'm sure you hate to see it go.

Absolutely fabulous looking 914!! I would get some really well done professional photos and put the car on BAT, or you might even think about an auction.Mecum or Barrett Jackson. You would also want to detail the heck out of it. There is a market out there for your car, I would think $35-40k should be a sale price.

1) 901 transmission or Subaru? 2) Hydraulic or cable if Subaru transmission? 3) AC/Heat? Beautiful car. If yes to the above 3 questions I see this car going for $35K - $38K. FWIW, I know of one member here actively searching for just this kind of conversion in this price range but he is looking for those 3 items in his prospective purchase. I only mention this to show that there is an genuine interest in 914 conversions done correctly. Here is hoping that you realize a $40K + sale. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

$150/day on Turo easily. The money will roll in. People want to drive a unique car and this fits the bill. If someone screws it up, they pay for it.

I can't really add to the objective discussion, especially never having even driven or ridden in a Subaru conversion, but the car looks fantastic and GLWS! Congrats on the dad part too.

I think high end 914 conversion cars are the next P cars to go up. Once we start seeing Singer level cars be built for customers the market will go up. I imagine in 3-4 years this will be a 45-50k market car.

Food for thought.

I love this car.

If I didn't have a full garage, I'd be on this car. Unique color (not stock), but I had this color way back and LOVED it.

I would buy it for a conversion to a 911 propelled car. Consider this condition car with a 911 motor worth $50K. Subtract the 911 motor and bits. $30-32k. Probably south of what you want / deserve.

GLWTS.

Thanks all for the kind words. It is an amazing 914, and I do love it. If you have deep pockets and truely are interested in buying, I will take the time to fluff and buff it and get all the pics that anyone could ever want. I am a honest person and don't hide anything. If the value is in the mid 30's then I most likely will keep it in hopes of the lil teener increasing in value. I apologize in the delay in keeping up with this thread, but life is fairly busy now.

Hey all, it has been a LONG time since I visited the ole 914 World.

Yes Keith. It has been much to long since you have been around here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wavey.gif)

I have had the pleasure of riding in and touring with this car. It was built to the highest standards with great attention to detail. It is the nicest Subie conversion that I have seen. Anyone thinking about a potential purchase should give it serious consideration. It would be a great addition to any garage.

Hey John!

It has been FOREVER!!! Hope you this message finds you well and in good spirits. Miss all of my friends in Vegas.

Keith

Hey all, it has been a LONG time since I visited the ole 914 World. I have been busy being a dad and figuring out life!

I can't actually believe that I am considering selling my teener, but with that said... It is kinda tough hauling a family of four in my 914. I am curious as to all your opinions of how much my car is worth. For those of you that don't know my car, it was featured in the June 2007 Excellence magazine (7 pages, 9 pictures) and won the "Best of Show" in the 2006 Ventura County Porsche Mid Engine Mania car show. I will post some pictures soon.

Year - 1973
Mods - $60k invested
2.0 WRX turbo suby
New interior
One off custom Kenesis wheels
911 front suspension and brakes
Upgraded rear brakes
Upgraded Axles
Customized transaxle
Steel flares (performed by Dana from project Anklebiter)
OEM Porsche Granite Green paint (looks more grey than green)

The car still looks like it used to (bad ass).

Thanks

Keith

You car has a certain brute performance oriented thing going on which doesnt yield the highest resale so
High 20's
For example
It doesnt appeal to a female crowd that just want a cute little porsche (they spend $ too)

Hauling a family of four in a 914 ?

This sounds like a problem for the

Ferrari mondial
( i only learned this car exists recently )

And wow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Thanks...

I think...

However, a 2.0 WRX is not quite brute force unless you are comparing it to a 1982 Escort. Then it is a brutal as it gets. Otherwise, it is just plain fun to drive. I have beat my share of 996's in a light to light race and I did manage to keep the skin on my face from peeling off.

If you are seriously considering buying the car, please PM me and allow me some time to reply as I might be able to get to the thread once a week. I will provide any pictures you would want or need. Otherwise, I am just reaching out to the 914 community to get a real idea of it's worth.

Thanks,

This has to be one of the best 914's out there. Bet you can buy it cheaper than you could ever build it.

I had a 1994 ford escort. Fun little wagon, but I had to remember to be sure to turn off the ac when getting on the freeway. But only maybe two months out of the year.
Beautiful car!

Another vote for BaT if you want to determine and realize market value in the best way possible...this is one of those projects that just needs to find 2-3 of the right buyers, and I can't think of a better forum for that than BaT. I'd recommend working with some of their recommended photographers, having complete docs, underside pics, pics in process, and videos even if they're just iPhone pics. I found interacting with the BaT crowd to be fun, and they love 914s as well as good hot rods.

And this is a very cool hot rod 914, in a great color. Loved it back then, and love it now. GLWS...
