I'm 70 and have owned my car since 1982. My brother bought it new in 1975.

Oh boy... just turned 3/4 of a century and still have my first car, an early '71 914. Do most of the wrenching on it myself though must admit climbing under the dash, etc isn't as easy as it used to be!!
(next project is adding a pass mirror on my '73 2.0) |

Getting closer to 71, still work on mine (as in, yesterday..).
Next month will be 47 years since I bought my -6. Sometimes wonder if I would have done some things differently if I knew then what I 'know' now... |

71 Bought my first 914 in 1975-new--2.0 49 state car--loved it. Sold it 5 years later for more than I paid for it. This was my 3rd Porsche--1950 356, and 1967 911. Now have a 1972 914 with full restoration almost completed.

I'm 57.
First 914 was a 73 1.7 - my first car in high school in 85. Had that til 96 (totaled in Atlanta - it now resides somewhere in George's masses...) Picked up my current 74 in 2019. in the intervening 23 years I had 86 and 89 944 Turbos but never lost interest in 914s - just didn't have the time or the space... |

lol Revival of a post on age, and now even the post itself seems old.
I bought my first 914 as a teenager in the late 90s. I remember going to one of the old So Cal BBQ/Swap meets in 1999, being by far the youngest there and thinking everyone else was an old fart, because as a kid, to me everyone was. Now I am an old fart (44) and everyone else is just an older fart. I find most younger people these days have no idea what a 914 even is. Still have my first 914, that I picked up from someone in Santa Barbara, that still had Mike. Z's name on the title. Finally got around to prioritizing a full restoration on it last year. My daughter will be 16 in 3 years, think she wants to help lower the average age and I have a couple extra 914s. |

Great to read about all the other original owners here. Tried to get Pano interested in such stories, but no response.

I am 75 but i am not average. Bought my first 914 in 1983 on a whim when driving past it and saw it in a used car lot. It was a white, originally yellow, 74 1.8 and paid $1800 for it. Drove it three years until the cam gear stripped out.

57 and feeling inspired by all the 70+ guys still going strong. Got my first Porsche (911) in 1990 and first 914 in 1999. Have had my current 914 since 2002.
