I might be able to make it! You must! It simply wouldn't be the same without you! Who'll give me a hard time about my funny shoes? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Trying to come up with a project. 914 is still not running and waiting for hell hole and right rear floor replacement. Also have fender cutouts for the rear that will eventually make my funky flares go away (thanks @nacho ). All that stuff seems unfeasible but I do need to fabricate a small splash panel for my 61 Lincoln Continental. That could be a nice little project for the day but would rather find something 914. Will see what else is out there..

If you wanted, I could trailer your car here/back and we could go after the floor or part of the hell hole or maybe a fender or two. I bet other attendees would appreciate seeing that and/or have experience with those sorts of repairs and could jump in and help, tell us what we're doing wrong, etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk details. Chris - do you think your welding guru friend might be interested in welding in my McMark GT roll Bar??? It's just sitting up in the rafters..... either I install it, or sell it. I would be happy to pay for his expertise...... his welds are epic. Robert @buddyV Robert thank you, the is a great offer. May 18th, I am out of service, I have a doctor getting her second phd, that I need to attend to her graduation. Proud poppa moment there. |

May 18 on calendar - I'm in!
If the Gelbgrun 6 survives the Luftgekuhlt/LA trip intact I'll bring it along. Might be thinking about some fog light brackets if your welding buddy is around (and I get time to cut and bend some metal to suit). Learning TIG techniques on some scrap pieces would also be useful, although helping others with any other projects is fine too. I have some electrical / electronics skills if debug is needed or electrical gremlins need exorcising. - Tony |

First post updated to include @Andyrew and @Retroracer .
Tony - You mentioned sourcing and bending some material. Let me know what you need as I may have some suitable remnants you can use. And I can easily run to Van Bebber (my local metal supplier) and grab whatever anyone needs, just let me know. |

I'll schwing by and just hang out and pester all you guys while you're trying to get something done.
I can bring some refreshments, although i'm not sure how well drinking and welding go together. Maybe we'll reserve the drinking for the spectators. And remember, I'm pretty quick with 2D CAD and also have the BendTech templates for tabs and brackets. I'm more than willing to help you translate your idea into metal.
So... Anyone who may want something plasma cut, please join us on Sat, May 18! I have 18 and 20 ga sheet, some 10 and 14 ga, too. Lots of scraps (sheet and tubing) for anyone interested in practicing TIG and MIG. And to be clear: Other than being on your own for lunch, there are no costs associated with any of this. I'm happy to supply materials, welding and plasma consumables, etc. Come share and learn and hang out with other 914 fans. Or just point and laugh at my build! I will be there. Got someone to cover for me at work. I'm mostly just looking forward to meeting everyone and learning from watching, being an extra pair of hands, etc. I may bring a small project (targa latch repair) just for fun. I'll also bring my med kit just in case drinking and welding don't go together well..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Now I understand.. no 914 is rust free! Looking forward to coming out. In the mean time, lots to do if I'm going to be ready to weld something in on the 18th!!
