I don't like it....look too much like a 911, who wants a "stretched" version of the 911....come on Porsche, use some creative engery and make up something that looks new (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif)

I expect to see a 4 door 911 come from a "tuner" and built just as a novelty

that is almost embarrasing to the Porsche name

The closest Porsche came to building a four door was the 500E...

911 Boxter Cayenne front with 928 998 rear
Kinda Corvette-limo-ish
I think I almost like it with that front engine V8

I didn't like it when we first saw it... but I decided I do like it..

It's sculpted nicely.. odd market.. that, or a $400,000 F-car.. I guess it's for people who want a sporty 7 series BMW?

Can't they do anything original? I mean all of their cars look THE SAME. Their entire styling dept. needs to be fired. Bring back the 911.

Panamerica, Panamera, whatever.

Porsche truly has moved on from the sports car world and is making high-horsepower luxury cars. Whoopedy do. Looks like I'll only buy a GT class or RS version of any of their cars. Not like I can afford them anyways. Remember a couple of weeks ago when a 911 owner posted that a 914 was like driving a go-cart compared to his 911SC? up to 1978 Porsche made true sports cars. Their heritage was to take what they used on the track and make it production-level straight to their customers, with interior. I believe the Carrera GT will be their last, true, GT-class production car. From here on out it's thousands of pounds of wiring, creature comforts, and stupid extremities like rear seats.

i think porsche will continue to build sports cars...the 911 is becoming more GTish..but look at the cayman.

the only thing is for some reason they think they have to expand their horizons and enter other markets..which they shouldnt do!

jack of all trades = master of none

As much as people don't like them, but those more mainstream cars are what is helping pay for Porsche to get back into racing. Like it or not, the Cayenne is a big $ maker for Porsche. I am willing to bet that the Panamera will be as well.

Troutman and Barnes built a 4 door 911 in the late 60s. I guess you could call them "tuners". I've seen pictures of it in Pano and on the web. Porsche also participated in the Audi RS2, a small wagon built in the early 90s. Porsche massaged the engine and the suspension, adding 17" Porsche wheels, Porsche brakes, tuning the engine to 315 HP, and adding some input to the styling. Never imported here.
The Panamera is old news, discussed here on this very list several months ago. It's been all over the web, and the pix are real, at least to date. We all know things change as they get closer to market. Looks like we'll see the real thing at the Frankfurt auto show this fall, and the car is supposed to hit the streets in 2008/2009. The Cap'n

i know the cayenne is a big money maker for porsche, but its sad that they had to resort to trend in order to get back into racing. but i believe porsche will never lose its roots...it may grow in ways we dont want..but it will stay from the same background and always have that influence. porsche is here to stay as a company for performance cars which i am thankful for

and for the last time..none of those panamera pictures could possibly be real
1. porsche just decided to build it a couple months ago...how could they already have one driving around the streets
2. there have been no spy pictures yet. spy pictures ALWAYS come first
3. why would they build a bright red car and parade it around before they even realeased an official statement about the cars looks and performance
4. clearly, many of those components are adapted DIRECTLY from the Carrera GT and 911. this car will have its own individual headlights and taillights, but still in the vein of porsche, just like all the other cars do

also, the whole concept of a PRODUCTION 4 door porsche is about 10 years old..they made a prototype in the early 90s called the 989, it was based off the new 911 design (996)
