Saw the ad in Excellence yesterday, was wondering if anyone here had gone to any of the previous fests? |

It got pretty good reviews last year as I recall. I almost want to drive out for it myself. That's iffy though.

I went to the first one & did the swapmeet. Great day! Gonna do it again this year (hoping to clear some parts out of the shop). Lots of really cool Porsches, and pretty much anything you could ask for was there. I may even drag a super-flared body I'm picking up to dump...er, I mean pass on to some lucky person. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) If any of you have seen Eric Geers "yellow submarine", I bought it for the 2.0 & 2 sideshifters. Other than a few bits & pieces, the rest of the car is gonna go away from me pretty fast, so If you're in the market, lemme know. Hope to meet a bunch of you there. Missed the first year, 9/11, could not get a flight out of Portland Oregon. Flew down the next year landed at John Wayne airport and drove up to Ventura, stayed at the
Hilton right next door and had the best time, was like going to a mini Porcshe Parade with swap meet. and a cars for sale section. You will find things that you never saw before and things that you have to have, bring $$ and ship it back home if you don't drive. Going again this year, Boxsters are the featured marque, so I will drive the Boxster. Last year the featured marque was the Speedster. CCLINHOTRODHELL |

Absolutely worth going to. It is by far the biggest Porsche event around here, although it lacks some of the "cool factor" of the Dunkel Brothers gatherings. But especially since the future of Dunkels may be doubtful, and the Pomona meet pretty much sucks for Porsche stuff lately, I'd make the effort to hit Ventura.
Also FWIW I am definitely up for having a fun run and pool party / BBQ afterwards again this year. My place is essentially halfway between Ventura and LA, very close to some awesome canyon roads and view points. |

Hi,
I went both years and it was very good both times. I will definately be there this year, schedule permitting. The first year could have been better but 9 11 effected everyones travel plans. A lot of vendors coundn't make it. Last year was great. Good swap meet. Found a center consol for my 73 and a few other odds and ends. If you don't feel like driving, there is an Amtrak station rite at the fair grounds. You can walk to the show. They also have an indoor swap meet, with books, tool kits, old trophies, models, etc. Last year the featured car was speedsters, this year boxters, next year 914s maybe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif) ? Almost as good as Dunkel Bros. There were quite a few 914s in the parking lot. Hope to see you there. Cheers, Elliot |

I went both years. Pretty good both times.
There were more 914s on Saturdays. Hardly any on the Sundays. |

I went last year and had a great time. saw more speedsters in one place over 150 than I will ever see again. It had the biggest selection on 914 parts that I have seen also. Lots of Vendors from all over the country selling and displaying their stuff. I sure recomend going and it is in a nice location on the beach.(cool) pomona was HOT!!! last week.

I was thinking about that the other day. I am definitely up for a fun run and/or gathering afterwards, probably Saturday but Sunday might work too.
I will have a super short-geared 901 in my car by then. It actually should be fantastic for the canyons around here, but not freeway-friendly at all. Of course this car isn't intended for the freeway, so who cares (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

I'll kick around some ideas and propose a plan in a week or so. Last year we got a fairly small group together and did a canyon fun-run from SeaSide Park to my house, and indulged in some charred meat, beverages and a bit of swimming. There is some gorgeous scenery and fun driving roads between there and here. It's 90 mins or so via the canyons vs maybe 45 via the fwy.
FWIW my place is off the 101, about halfway between the event (Ventura) and "LA" proper. So this plan works best for people living south or east from Ventura; kinda out of the way for the northerners. I'm at the top-center of this map: (IMG:http://www.nosubstitute.org/maps/tn_588_jpg.jpg)[click for fullsize; 400KB] |

I'm not sure how I can help... but I would be interested in attending an event down south.
I had already planned to attend the German Autofest anyway. B |

Anybody know how much to rent an RV? That would be a cool way to motor down there and have fun.
