Sorry to here about Dunkel Bros. I was only able to attend once last year and it was great. I wonder what they will do with the museum? The Porsche powered helicopter looked fun. I think there is a Hilton next to the Ventura fairgrounds. If that's too pricey there are lots of places in Ventura. I'll be looking for you there if my schedule permits. Or I'll just call in sick and go anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif)
Cheers, Elliot

I have a Reservation at the Holiday Inn, right where the event is being held at.

I have one room, for Friday & Saturday nite, with 2 Queen Beds. No Smoking.

Anyone like to share the room?

I'll be there but probably only for one day, which is likely to be Sunday so we can hit the swap meet. I'll be attending with my x-husband, not sure if we'll take his 912 or my 914 - depends on what's running good at the time!

We went last year and had a great time. Lots of neat cars and a great swap meet.

It'd be nice to meet any or all of you who plan to attend.

there should be all the above in Ventura its a large town and has all the chain resturants. There is a popular(El Torito) mexican resturant just across the freeway @ Seaward.

I'm up for the BBQ/beer/pool party at my place if anybody wants to do that. I lagged on announcing any plans cuz I was scheduled to leave for DC, but my trip got cancelled. Plenty of parking, pool, 'cuzzi, grill, outdoor tunes, etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

OR, we could just do a fun run ending up at the Rock Store, Sagebrush, Roadhouse etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Either of these options are not in Ventura; about 30 minutes back down the 101 (south i.e. towards the 405) or ~90 minutes via the beach+canyons. If you northerers are taking the I-5 back home then it's on the way, otherwise its backtracking down the 101.

I would enjoy opportunity to meet some of you. Craig (camp 914) Laughlin is also going to be there. He is travelling with his wife. I will be driving down by myself. Hope to leave I-5 at Grants Pass and take the coastal route and still make it from Portland to Ventura in two days, arriving Friday night.

Dont take the coastal route. You'll hate yourself for showing up at the meet on MONDAY.

Guess what I took back from the Oregon meet ?? I made it up their in a cool 8 hours on HWY5. I took the coast back home and it took me 12HOURS. Too many RV's/slowpokes/stoplights/small towns. HWY1 out of SF south is ok until just south of Monterey where it becomes extremely twisty (like you can see the road a few 100 feet on the other side of the gorge but you have to drive 1mile to get to the other side) Think twisties...

Twelve hours to your area is OK with me. Plan to leave about 6am and don't care if I keep going until dark. I'm sick of I-5, although I will probably come home that way. Can I make it from Bay Area south to Ventura on the coast in another 12 hours and make Ventura by dark on day 2 (Friday)?

Yes. You can make it south from my area to Ventura in about 8 hours also.

I took the coastal route back.. because I was tired of the 5 also... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Some of the Oregon coastal towns ROCK. The scenery is awesome.. but man it took forever.

I needed 2-3 days to make the drive instead of one.

Are you thinking Saturday or Sunday for this? If Sunday, I'd say count me in for either or both!

Ventura local here,

There's pretty much any restaurant you could want in the Ventura area. There's a lot of good pizza joints around if pizza and beer was the plan. There are also different steak houses (Out Back, Stewart Anderson, ect.), a bunch of Mexican joints and pretty much whatever else you could want. Is Chris doing the thing at his place this year? I think I’ve read both yes's and no's about that...

As for hotel's: how much do you want to spend? There are some really nice, pricey hotels (Ojai Valley Inn, for example) and some hotels many of us CSOBOSC members would be willing to stay in...

I’m up in Chico, giving my liver a work out java script:emoticon(':beer2:')
java script:emoticon(':beer2:') , but am coming down for the event. So, if any one has any Ventura questions feel free to shoot me an e-mail. Oh, any one have a passenger seat for me if there are going to be any canyon runs or anything? Since I'm going to be driving 1000 miles in 2 days, and MUST be back by 8:00am on Monday, and actually have broken down (in Santa Nella) in the 914 in ’01 coming back from the autofest, I figure it’s a job for the truck…

Welcome Kevin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

Glad you could make it over. I recall your car breaking down last year. I think you posted it on PP.

If anyone is interested in driving to Hollywood, I will be at my family restaurant for meetings all weekend. I can't attend the event but I will be around in the evenings.
