One thing I noticed is that the bearing shells do no sit evenly. On the rod half, the bearing protrudes just a bit.

On the cap side, the bearing is just a little short.

I finished checking the other rod bearing. All pretty consistent, with about 0.0018 inch bearing clearance.

I got a small box of misc parts from AA. Just part of the endless list of stuff missing, gone missing, or otherwise necessary.

I am probably excessive if not OCD, but I am happy to have the covers for the rear caliper outer adjusters.

I had used a hose clamp as a temporary fix, but this is better.

That helped with the alignment of the defroster vent on the driver side.

Back to restoring vinyl parts. So far I have tried both of these products, that both use the "restore" word.

I have tried double applications, and overnight soaking, but can't see any real improvement in how brittle the old vinyl feels.

Until I find a magic vinyl restoring potion, I will go ahead with what I have. I used the 3M stuff, but it left a high shine.

To cut the shine, I used some 303 cleaner.

I've heard that rubbing mineral oil into vinyl and leting it seep in can soften things up. Haven't tried it though...

Lower dash pad installed (for now). Looks more complete, and I like the contrast of the gray perf vinyl center.

But the fit with the top pad is a bit sloppy on the ends.
