Next task:during the Route 66 Classic I learned that the speedometer fits too loose in the dash, and can gradually vibrate out. Here is the amount of movement after a couple of short drives.

Not a big fix. Since the repro rubber gasket is not fat enough, I increased the diameter of the gauge with one wrap of electrical tape.

Same fix on the combo gauge. Yeah, I still have masking tape labels on the gauge wires.

Everything fits snug, so we call this fixed.

Cross it off the list.

Next up: A clunk I have ignored since first getting the car on the road, at least after I made sure nothing was loose, and the car steered straight.

I started looking in the frunk, and made sure the spare was snug and nothing else was loose. As a reward I found a favorite screwdriver that has been missing for at least a year. Maybe I am getting too old for this.

The most likely culprit I found are my fender liners. This do fit pretty tight but have just a bit of movement. And the rigid plastic sheet is like a drum. Any movement has an amplified rattle.

In my pile of have-used supplies I still have some bits of Dynamat and acoustic foam.

Step 1: a few pieces of Dynamat to reduce the drum effect.

Step 2: some sections of rubber hose, split and stuck on the edge to keep it from hitting the inside of the fender.

Step 3: some 3M double side adhesive to fix the liner in place better.

I finished the left side liner. It seems less rattle-prone. I will do the same on the right side and try driving.

Bob
saw the liner for the targa on your list. Sticky back pig mat kinda looks the part and seemed to work.https://rni.wvumedicine.org/memoryhealthclinic/

See if you can stop at a body shop and buy 5$ dollars worth

I would like to think these are out there somewhere?

If anyone knows where, give a shout. I have never found one.

More stuff on this side. Ran out of time for a test drive, so that will happen tomorrow on the way to RRC.
