Can't remember how many folks said this was "easily" restorable in the original post.... Even though a real six, doesn't seem to be garnering much interest. Restoration costs will exceed ultimate sales price at todays 914-6 valuations. Nearly every square cm scares the pee out of me, that's for sure. Everything is either crushed, burnt, rusted beyond belief, MIA, etc. At least there's a key in the ignition. Sir Andy’s real -6 chassis was worth in the $5000 range before work started on it. On its worst day, it was worlds better than this. That may be restorable, but there’d have to be a big price drop!

19 grand? Ridiculous. There recently was two 914 sixes on here for sale in 1000 times better condition at a better price. Crack pipe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) but i do hope someone actually saves it instead of vin swapping it.

It would also be a scavenger hunt of epic proportions. Think of all the little doo dads that are needed everywhere on this car that would need to be replaced. You can start with the wiring harness (not so little of a doo dad). How about the correct 914-6 airbox/snorkel setup that seems impossible to find? And on and on and on....

Remove "000" from the price and you might have a sale.
Nineteen dollars, or $9.14, feels about right. Smart of them to put it on wheels to help market the car, but they could've done a few other things—even if badly—to have helped their cause. Porsche wheels, unbending the LR fender, unbending the windshield frame, etc. But…I'm really glad they didn't. This is a serious project, one that can only be a labor of love. |

probably eight years from now everyone will think it a bargain (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) it will happen ,had it been burnt as well as crashed ? Edit reread the original ebay add, looks like fire started in the engine bay and really got left to burn, lots of heat in the interior. IMO this will resurface as a vin swap as the front of the car appears suitable for a weld on to a better (straight) period 4cyl shell. |
