Love this line "An entry-level Porsche not in terms of the price, but the sense of reduction. "

I would love to see a basic minimal model in the lower price range, not going to happen. Minute Porsche labels it as special, lightweight, limited, etc... everything gets minimal but the $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Fabulous article. Thanks for sharing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif)
It is so nice to read something that is more than a puff piece or designed to cause controversy. I learned something, plus I now love my 914 even more than I did before.

As noted at the bottom of the article, the full interview was included in the Delius-Klasing book “50 Jahre Porsche 914” [50 Years of the Porsche 914]. There is a LOT more interesting info like this packed in that book and I highly recommend it.

The 550 spyder may have been they're original inspiration but the car has more of a 908 or 910 vibe in some ways. Actually the 904 is closer.. I mean I've always assumed they had basically tamed down the 904 for the basic 914 design - they're very similar imho.
I'd actually love for the 914 to have a little more 550 influence at the top of the rear fenders (kinda like the rounded top of the front fenders, but in the back), jmho. Very cool article though, thanks for posting!

Really interesting article. I'm glad there seems to be some acknowledgement of the classic less-is-more philosophy still there at Porsche.

What should excite us all is that Porsches’ current Head of Design is passionately interested in the intrinsic qualities of the 914.

This could bode very well for us in future P-car offerings.

Also obvious, is that Porsche's current Head of Design considers the 914 to be "a real Porsche"!
