Electric AC would be great.
How big of an alternator/battery will you need to power it?

I think this is just the fan part. You would need a bunch more to do it

Yep. Just the evap and blower. Still need a compressor but a nice design. They are working on an electric version like they made for the 911. But claim you can go electric or conventional compressor. Will most certainly need a higher amp alternator if you go electric.

Yes that's what they say it's just the evaporator and fan, the compressor/condenser (whole package) is still under development.
If you have to have AC this seems like a cool alternative....pun intended.

IIRC the electric unit was 40 amps, so an alternator upgrade would also be in order.

Yes. They sell a high amp alternator. The stock one on a 3.2 is just adequate. My shop has done a bunch in 911s. Pricey but well done.

I’m not a center console guy but I would happily put that in my car. Cool idea!

Great idea. I didn't like the old under dash design. I'm hurting for every inch of leg room now.

I'm not a center console guy either. I think they are "unsportscar like". A rather bulky and intrusive way to add 3 pretty much unneeded gauges.

OTOH, this is a much better way to add the evaporator than the clunky under dash units. The fully enclosed console shown is much more attractive than the open one that came as an option.

The best solution is forgetabout AC. Take of fthe top and roll down the windows (easy to say here in the PNW (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) true on both accounts. 90F & 90% R.H here in the summers. Still have have thoughts of how to do AC without the butchery.

The best solution is cloth seat centers, as I recently discovered with Scheels.

Oh, and amen. I thought I might want A/C, but not this much.

(Now, if a system could be done in the front trunk and run through the normal dash vents—and particular if said electric A/C system also avoided the need to spend thousands to get heater boxes, I might be back in the hunt. Then again, cloth seats are pretty wonderful....)

Just wait until you see the price!

Wanted their fresh air blower for the SC and it alone was $1,150, so I passed and that was 3 years ago. That does not include AC and additional plumbing and switches. the complete kit is about $3,500 U.S.

Maybe if I lived in a hot humid clime it would be worth it.

Put this assembly where the foam goes on the pass floor run a hose to each dash vent (sorry early cars) and ad a nice compact 2 square vent assembly under the dash in the center.

Interesting stuff, I love the idea of A/C in our cars.

It'll be worth looking at. Maybe I should upgrade my alternator, just in case, before I have the engine put back together.

As far as it being loud, looks like it's on max-speed and my engine will drown out the sound anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Now, if they could put the blower where the fresh air box is under the frunk-vent.....then it could work as a good defogger too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I agree, and i think that if that is compact enough to fit in a center console then it should fit in the fresh air box space with little issue, just need the box to fit it in, and also you are then right we’re the deflectors and hoses are. Seems it would have been just a s easy to engineer that than what they did here.
