That is really cool. What's the post-Lemans history of the car?

AFAIK...the #40 has remained in private ownership through the decades following its 1970 (2L gt) class P1 at the 24hr. Even included some daily driving duties while back in the Paris /Sonauto dealership (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)
Then on to a private museum in Germany. Finally making it's way here to the States in the late '80s (I'm told), then into our caretaking in 2020.

This is awesome (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
It's so much more incredible knowing that this car is in the hands of a true 914 enthusiast who will use, enjoy and share the awesomeness of this car with the community! Congratulations!!!

It's a legit 4 speed with a 304, but becoming a 401-XR spec v8 tribute (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
Only 21 or 22 XR originals built...so very rare + the tribute will be fun enough

Man-o-man! Hard to believe that the most significant 914-6 GT cars of all time continue to change hands in this celebratory year of the 914.

First off, kudos to Mike Hagen for his pursuit of this crown jewel of the 914 world and his long-time stewardship of what is arguably the most significant 914 on the planet.

So refreshing to see that Mike has passed the torch to someone offering more than deep pockets. Nicely done! Congratulations Marty & Matthew!

The Hagen history of the car is chronicled in the "Forgotten Hero" article from 911 and Porsche World, October 2000 posted at Armando's Pbase 9146 GT website. You can view the article here:

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind my budget narrow-body tribute to your beautiful car to be featured at the 24 Minutes of Le Mans 914 parade lap tribute at Mosport August 2, 2020 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the big win! Any PCA 914 owners able to bring their cars to participate please see our SIG914 Updates in the garage forum located here:

Glenn, the car is undergoing the Discovery phase for the moment ; then addressing all areas that need repair/ replacement. It's a time capsule, so due diligence strictly adhered to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
So...no showing of the 914 for several months.
I will post up pics of what we are finding here , sure to be a few trick factory parts !
