Ready to mount...since there was no vent tube/vent hole drilled into the trunk floor, I'm not going that route. A simple piece of foam rubber= the breather ; better than the breather tank just flopping around in there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
The black rubber strap is a 356/ 912 parts bin item ! |

The jury is still out, but getting closer regarding the pilot of #40 accross the finish line. This description assembled here by photographer/racer/author Michael Keyser shows the post-moment where the race finished. Guy in the driver's seat, Claude passenger and his girlfriend on his lap.
So far @wonkipop has a good clue!! Michael tells me that he still has contact with Guy over in France and will be in touch with him. Can't get better than that...the #40's co-driver report ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Just picked up one of these. What specifically is the strap part number? And specific brackets for it? And how are you routing hoses? |

@BillJ the rubber hold-down strap is a 912 battery holder, Factory pn# 90161102521.
It comes with attachment fasteners already in place at both ends. After you shape the alum base plate (I use .125" ga.), you will need to make a small flat "Hook" style receiver* to place on the backside of the plate...this catches the steel "Loop" on the rubber strap. *You can either tig weld the Hook/ or set with JB weld. For the other end of the Strap>the end that you pull and lock in place, I simply shaped the inside of a steel washer to match the shape of the hook and welded on to the flat bracket. Then it's bent to a 45° angle...easy to mate the hook into place. The venting (clear vinyl tube) connects to a push-on fitting located on the GT oil-filler neck. |

@BillJ yes the vent line nipple on the gt filler neck seems a bit smaller in dia than the one on my normal 9146 oil tank, just get the correct size vent tube / and a suitable grommet. Red cap on top is where the waste oil is emptied; grey foam (prev post) on the Right is a simple breather, engine is not making much blowby at all. I've seen some GT's that have a road-tube that will go into ( in place of the grey foam) a hole cut in the trunk floor and aim down by the trans.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) they were both stylish blokes driving a stylish car to a stylish victory. (right down to the girlfriend with the french short hair-cut sitting on a lap) so it kind of doesn't matter marty. but its nice for you to know the details. i hope you get the answer. by the way. i love my dunpy sticker. so do all the ford guys here i show it to. i'm trying to score you a super-roo repro from rare spares. they have to do another run of them. i'll get you one when they get some stock from the printer in the right size. have you got a ford to stick it on?
