Trailing arm has additional sheet metal welded to it, and other areas of the suspension console also have been beefed with additional metal.

Wow. I hope that the current owner of that fire extinguisher system can reach out to Marty and those parts can be reunited with #40. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yes...Mike and I are aware that the fire system was removed at some point. The actuator on the front cowl is missing and a small round chrome-cap has been placed over the empty hole.
A modern/ approved fire system will be onboard #40 shortly , but the unit that ran in the 24Hr would be a cool "Re-uniting " with the car.
Do let me know when you meet up with your friend if he's interested in selling off the part. Also if he is still has the 8 1/2 " x 15" rear Fuchs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Hello Marty,
Congratulations on the great deal, I would have loved to buy it back, unfortunately it was too expensive for me ...
Where does the information come from that there were 8 1/2 " x 15" rear Fuchs rims on the back?
At LM in rear was 7x15, later 9x15 Minilite and 10x15 Gotti was used.

I will think about the price for the fire system.
Thats my in the 80s, put on the sticker

Hi Wolfram,
Welcome to the 914World...it will be cool to read some of your stories about this car during your stewardship of #40 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png)
I can't pin down the authenticity of info about the 8.5" Fuchs rear wheels, kind of like chatter among people that we have spoken with during the quest of this 914. Did you drive #40 on streets , or just take to special events/ track use/ etc. ¿?
Cool to have you on board the Forum here...and let me know if/ when you are ready to sell off the fire-bottle (use my PM) .

This could be the era in which the wider wheels (8.5") were on the car.
Late '80s, I built the 1/2 cage at the shop for the car to be entered into a PCA Parade.

Interesting it ran the rear sway bar, did all the factory GT cars run the rear bar? Seems that many 914 race cars don't always use them.

People often run without a swaybar for AX, but on the big track, it really helps keeping the rear planted in the corners corners.
