You should be able to set your parts in same areas as shown in the pictures and see where either you bolt something to or have to utilize the case half bolts to bolts things on. Just remember to torque everything to proper specs when putting back on car.

i encourage you to do it. its a primal system. first time install in the world in a car of L jet (but maybe simultaneous with vw 412 but all in the family). beat SAAB and those eager smug do gooder swedes. bring it back. inspect that part # on the flow meter connected to the air cleaner. Bosch etc 001. says it all. crack a beer after you do it and let me know. i'll rip the top of a can down here. Sorry... the first car with L-Jetronic was the Opel Manta A GT/E from march 1974 on. Has been sold in the USA, too. Regards Norbert Never knew about the Manta Norbert. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) not a bad looking car, never got those in aus. my 914 1.8 L jet is a jan 74 build. model years commence production in the second half of the previous year. us market vw 412s also had the 1.8 with L jet along with 914s. that puts both of them in august 73 start. ... Yes - you are right! I'm getting old - or - better said - I am old! I always reflect to the cars I worked on in those days... and German car tech information tells the same as I did: https://kfz-tech.de/Biblio/Benzin-Einspritz.../L-Jetronic.htm I discussed the theme with Volker Huck three years ago and forgot it: https://jetronic.org/de/forum/hinweise-und-...etronic-familie Best Regards Norbert |

Received my injectors back, the hoses are pretty straight and hard to bend will that be to much stress on the injectors? I have most of the gaskets and stuff needed to install now. The plenum lines up with the studs on the case but I don’t know if the front stud has a nut on it then another one for the plenum? Also I’m missing I think a harness strap and something else that mounts directly under the plenum? Would appreciate advice thank you in advance for any help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) [attachmentid=780891

I'm pretty sure it was engine case, plenum then a nut. If the rubber lines are hard and brittle, it would be a good time to replace them. Go ahead and replace them with the slight radius style, it came that way from the factory. Lastly, make sure you clean these terminals that I circled in the picture. A bad connection here will cause a bad day of troubleshooting in the future.
A slight highjack with this thread and perhaps Clay or others might chime in. I'm planning on going with the vanagon throttle body conversion. I think I found a cheap enough 50mm throttle body and have done research on good double sealed INA needle bearings to rebuild this potential 50 mm throttle body. However, I came across this GoWesty throttle body. Will this bolt up and play nice with our 1.8L's I do understand I'll have to fabricate something for the throttle body switch. |

Hey Shane, curious if you sent all 5 injectors to Mr. Injector for cleaning? The cold start valve is often overlooked.

Not a bad thing to do. Sometimes these cold start valves leak and will cause a rich running condition. Your box of Ljet parts looks beautiful, but it is concerning that is was removed for some reason. So it would be wise to be proactive with checking most everything before bolting these unknown parts back on.
I haven't followed your previous posts, are you building a concours mint 914? Have you already replaced the plastic fuel lines in the tunnel? This may be argumentative to many, but I would ditch the 3 port fuel pump, and relocate the new fuel pump up front. |

Definitely not concours but keeping everything as stock as I can. Was thinking about getting the 2 port but not sure about relocating it to the front yet. A quick test on the FI harness showed a bad wire and more then a few brittle and cracked. I’m betting the PO was fighting that maybe. The hoses on the injectors are new but did notice not much of a bend on them. Was mainly looking for info on what is directly beneath the plenum so I can buy those parts and get started with the installation soon. Thanks |

It will fix the issue with the hard to bend lines on the injectors. I used one on my BMW to fix the NLA fuel line elbows on the dual fuel filter setup. |

I'm actually in the process of making a few repairs on my Ljet harness too. I'm sure you already know this, but Jeff Bowlsby offers a wiring harness rebuild service.

the injector hoses literally support the fuel rails and naturally place them in the right position "floating" in space.
you should search out the 90 degree bend hoses. plenty of vendors for them. it wouldn't be good to have any of the fuel lines in the engine bay forced into position and stressed. |

I see, just looked at the rails and saw no mounting holes or studs. With that said I’m guessing they wouldn’t have the proper clearance at the wrong angle, As they are floating like you mentioned.
