I would buy one of those if someone has a 3D printer and can make/ship them.

I have a 3d printer and can see how it turns out. I wonder if a cup in there would get in the way of 3rd and 5th.

I saw it on an Olympic blue 914 that was on BAT. Seller did not mention any issues with it and provided the link.

Looks easy enough to print with the flat bottom surface. What color would be good for this?

I was thinking black so it would not be as noticeable.

No, not here. My '70 doesn't have a console there.

Good find, Ralph. I'd buy one. Although Nick's question is a good one. What happens to shifting when you put a cup in there.....?

I would like a Black one (if shifting is not a problem)

So when I drove my car back in the 70s as a daily driver, I had to have beverages handy...all the time (I was in my 20s after all). I took the center console out and built this. Never had a shifting issue with a bottle in either holder.

I believe you can put your designs on Shapeways and they handle selling, printing and shipping. Might be worth checking out.

Nice idea, seems like it would not take much effort to make a slightly more attractive cup holder... Even just adding a little taper would refine it.

Or you could take out the pad and put in one of these cupholders.

And you still have the little tray to hold your phone, change, glasses etc.

Used 3m Dual lock strips to hold it on place. so I can remove it, if I want. (haven't removed it since I put it in)

Yep; I’d be in for one also. Had a hanging one many years ago but was cheap and the hang hook broke. Never seen another.

I took a couple of boards and built a solid block that fit in the center tray, upholstered it with foam and black vinyl. Bought a couple of cupholder inserts from a boat shop. Hole saw to cut for the cupholder insert, bingo. Works really well.

Homemade center consul and armrest fit in the large part of the tray. And a cup holder from the 70s trimmed, and wedge fits into the front small part of the tray.

Also take a look at this link: The Official 914 Ashtray Cupholder Order Thread, Out with printing, in with waterjet cut stainless!
