You can drive it in the snow all you want, just don’t call me in 20 years! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)
Joe is the man and we are getting this car sorted. Now that it has a permanent parking spot in my garage, it should be a relatively quick process - as far as metal work goes. And for any keen eyes, the last photo showing the new outer rocker... I am well aware it not positioned right, just giving Joe a teaser and some hope for the future. Thanks guys! |

Just think. If there was no oxygen in the atmosphere then 914s would last forever.

That’s some beautiful rust you’ve got there! Neil Young would be happy! Keep going the car is worth it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

We have made some good progress. Joe's car ended up being much worse than we both initially anticipated.
Still a few hoops to jump through, but about "half done" with the main body. Surprisingly the passenger side is in better shape - which is odd. So that should go faster. The bottom 2" of most of the car is soft and requires remedy. We agreed to save both of us time/money, not to aim for visual perfection, but aim for a safe and solid revival. I would fabricate all the simple parts - like the tunnel sides - instead of sourcing another whole tunnel. Additionally, not worry about blending or finishing any welds that it will be covered in carpet. The guts of the tunnel were also in very bad shape. Which resulted in my sourcing of metric tubes in various sizes, bending and installing, that was a doozy. The car will see the road again. |

Looks like your car was clipped, those images are a tell tale sign of a replacement front clip that was added after an accident.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) PS: Would be interesting to see if they kept the original VIN on top of that fender (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-8696-1692983813.jpg) |
