Hi everyone,
After a year's wait, I am as happy as can be with the new seats I receive from GTS. Couldn't wait to remove the old ones and install the new Scheel style seats. Sorry, I can't figure out how to straighten out the photos. Maybe an admin can do it. These are the old seats, and I will be putting them up for sale in a week or so. And these are the new seats. Waited a year to get them but it was worth it. There are just a few more details to take care of in the interior and the car will be almost done. |

Gorgeous!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)
Out of curiosity, was the wait due to GTS backlog, or unavailability of material? Thanks, definitely worth the wait! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) They went with a different person to make and weld the seat frames. Took a while to get up and running again. |

Great looking seats. Are the headrests comfortable? They look like they come forward quite a bit.
What were your old seats? Are they just modified stock seats? Who built them? They look pretty great, too. |

Thanks guys.
I am really happy with the seats. The bright tartan I chose ads some color to the interior, which is something I feel the car needed. Montreal914, the reason for the long wait was a lack of seat frames. I had ordered the Hockenheim seats. But when the frames arrived, so did the Scheel style seat frames. At the last moment I switched from the Hockenheim to the Spa (Scheel) style. rjames, you are right. The Scheel style headrest stick quite a bit far forward. Sitting in a relaxed driving position it just barely touches the back of my head. Just sitting there it's not uncomfortable or bothersome. However, I don't think it would be comfortable or even fit if I were wearing a helmet for an autocross. I have not driven the any appreciable distance in these seats so it is hard to tell. If they are not comfortable while driving I will ask Stefan at GTS to exchange headrests for a different style. I will be traveling for work all of next week. But when I return I will take the car for a good ride and report back on the headrests. Bill. |

James, the old seat are modified 914 seats. Apparently they were modified by a company in California. The seats are covered in gray leather and are very comfortable. I bought them used and they came with a center console, door cards and headliner that matched the seats. The seats are not perfect (some wear marks on the leather and piping) but still very nice, supportive and comfortable.
