Wow, some of you people need to see a therapist about this. Your expectations for other people are quite high. Most Porsche owners aren't addicted to their car and don't read Porsche web forums every day all day. To most owners it's just a cool car that they bought.

Imagine the following conversation after you drive up to a party in your Camry:

[dude comes up to you]

Is that your Camry??

Yeah, why?

I drive a Toyota Echo. It's the one under the cover out front.

Ummm, dude, that's great. Where's the bathroom? See ya around.

[glad to get away from psycho Toyota weirdo]

Typical Camry snob. I get that all the time in my Echo. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

And putting in a new transmission (and the accompanying check I had to write) really helped solidify my feelings of ownership.

Thanks for taking such good care of her, I will continue to do the same. I hope to give this car to my kids one day, seriously.

Transmission?? I'm gonna be sick (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif) I hope that didn't cost you too much. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)
I do miss it sometimes but, it was time for me to move on to something faster. Have fun and drop me a PM if you have any questions.

Not tryin to burst any bubbles here but there are also dickhead 914 owners. They tend to be either young college age guys or middle age middle class guys neither of which can afford a "REAL" Porsche so they get a 914

just because we are in college and cant afford a more expensive porsche..does not mean that we are in it for the name!

QUOTE (VegasRacer @ Aug 10 2005, 09:30 PM)
True story. A few years ago a buddy (911 owner) and I stopped at an exclusive mountain lodge for a few beers after a hike. We were standing in the parking lot when this new, black C4 Cabriolet pulls in. We watch as the overweight 50 year old male driver gets out. He has his polyester shirt unbottend to his navel to show several gold chains. He adjusted his toupee while the 25 year old passenger with the fake tits climbed out. He glared at us as they walked in to the restaurant.

My buddy said "I've got an idea." He had a case of oil in the back of his Suburban. We poured out half of it under the Porsche. The slope of the parking lot was just right and it left a trail from the back of the car and formed a puddle by the drivers door.

We went inside the bar and had several drinks. About 2 hours later we were ready to leave. When we got outside we were rewarded with the pay off from our previous prank.

The tow truck had just finished loading the C4. We waved and smiled as it pulled out of the parking lot. We couldn't stop laughing the whole way home.

Not a Porsche story, but similar. A few years ago, in another life (pre ministry) I was working in a Central Shop for Peabody Coal Company as a mechanic. One of the guys I worked with, young, had just bought a new Harley Sporster and was so proud of it. He wouldn;t leave it outside in the lot, but brought it into the shop each night and parked it while we worked. Another coworker and I started squirting just a few drops of oil under it each night. Then we let it go for a few nights, then started up again. Theis went on for about a month. He never could find the leak, and I thought it was going todrive him nuts. We convinced him it was the kickstand gasket leaking, and he actually took it back to the dealer and told them he thought that was the problem.

It almost cost me stitches, I was laughing so hard!

WHHHOAAAAAA put the attitude down and step away from the door. I don't recall saying it was YOU that stopped by the shop did I?? I said the dickheads I have encounterd tended to be...... that said I am only 31 and started werking on these cars when I was 19. Not for the name but because I was always a VW guy, and made the natural progression. Do the math. I just get disgusted with the people who only car about the badge, you know the guys that test drives a 914 ,924,944,na 911 and says " I thought Porsches were fast....." Those of us here love the cars for what they are, not for the mistique of what they are "supposed" to be.

Vegas Racer,

Hey I recognize that story. My cousin was visiting my uncle at his restaurant and had to get his car towed because of what he thought was an oil leak by his Porsche. My uncle was really pissed about that oil leaking from my cousins car all over his parking lot.

I forwarded your post to them and they plan on coming to visit you. They intend to stop by Wal-Mart and buy 10 cases of oil to rustproof your 914's interior floorboards!!!

Hope you got that baby inside the garage with a German Shepard sitting beside it.

Hehehe

Ok Fanboys, here is your chance... I am moving to a protonic injection system.

Join me!

Either my car will haul Universal ass, or I'll be beamed up... on ignition...

Anyhow...
