I also liked the writeup. They didn't go through a two paragraph generic history of the 914, the writeup we've all read 1000 times.

I thought the M471's came with wider rims? Those Fuchs could be stock to the 914, looks a little goofy.

The car was at the Amelia action but was on display only. Several years ago before these were half-million-dollar cars I thought the M471's came with wider rims? Those Fuchs could be stock to the 914, looks a little goofy. Clearly riding on narrower rims now than in the photo from a few years ago. |

M471 cars originally came with 185/70 VR 15 on 6Jx15 Fuchs in combination with wheel spacers missing the spacers? agree with @Root_Werks - is goofy the way it is now. if your going to put the original size wheels and rubber back on you should at least go full pedant or go home? ![]() |

There is (or was) a real M471 here in New Jersey that looked a bit scruffy, much like the silver one pictured. I saw it probably 15 years ago at a PCA event |

Not to be picky also, but on a half-million car..
I wouldn't expect to see a spot of rust anywhere.. Calipers should be redone to factory finish. chipped/flaked paint on the engine underside air baffles. Was the front suspension significantly different? The panel that protects the steerig rack and master cylinder doesn't look right; it only has 2 bolts. I agree, the rear wheels look 'lost' in the flares. Sadly, as a car that was originally sold specifically for racing, this one will spend the rest of it's life as a garage queen, only trotted out for shows. |

It looks like the current owner went with a narrower set of tires. The stock photo in the other link looks like a different tread pattern, with wider tires. Attached image(s) ![]() |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) approx 150K USD. sure was rusty though. saw that car. aussie rust but. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) some one did their maths on that one and figured out it was worth it. and it probably was. it was all there. rusty or not. there was profit in it. and income. there is a speedster down here. a right hand drive delivered. all original. and i mean original. its not restored apart from mechanical upkeep. beautifully faded. reportedly changed hands last at a mil aud. it never goes up for auction when it switches owners. i've seen it once or twice. some rich chinese dude owns it at present. nice enough guy. brings it out to coffee runs occasionally. no trailer queen. gets driven to its outings. |

Beautiful 914. Were sway bars part of the M471 package? The front sway bar appears not to be through body. Is this correct?

Strange. Article said Dollars https://www.motorious.com/articles/news/por...udicrous-price/ you think you are the only country in the world with dollars? the government here calls it a dollar. the locals (me and others) refer to it as the peso (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . if you deploy your sense of humor you will understand the vernacular. its not even a bill anymore, its a coin. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) the paper notes were gorgeous. ![]() the oxidised 356 was sold here in aus at shannons. at an auction i attended. with aussie buyers. the auctioneer called it in a broad australian accent. the car is right hand drive. the article you probably read was an australian article. yes we are another country that has a currency called the..................dollar!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif) it sold for 150 thou of your greenback dollars. there is a conversion rate you can access on google. if you think about it, given 356 values for certain cars etc thats probably about right. it will return a profit after restoration when its sold again. the $ in the end are the same, here or USA. there is a potential sale price for a finished restored car which dictates how much the chicken shed find wreck is worth. and just to upset your cultural supremacy even more! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) austalia was the first export market for porsches. we even beat you guys to it. check the history. there is a lot of very very very early 356s here. but no 914s. officially. except one special one. .......maybe. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) who knows. its all above my pay grade. ps if you look closely at the oxidised 356 you will notice lots of very special things about it. check the wheels. some other clues. and while aussies might whinge about the rust, its mostly surface oxidisation on that car, not your version of savage salt rust - terminal cancer. its more like a desert scorched car in your neck of the woods. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) but i'm going to agree with original poster. any one calling half a mil of gen-yu-whine greenbacks on a 914/6 - well you don't want to see any rust. esp bubbles under the paint. esp around the door handle area. |

Agree with others, don't like being picky on such a beautiful 914, but for $500k+, you'd think the trim around the radio would be tucked in correctly. The screws on the gauge bezel would be painted and not look like they were removed with an incorrect Phillip's driver etc.
I see it so much, $50k paint job, lots of parts replaced, looks like a new car until you get closer. This 914 would never pass the 356 guys sniff test. |

I saw my car at Amelia and was sad at how down hill it had gone since I owned it, people trying to do things they should not have, rough treatment, and everything everyone else has mentioned.
I actually used to run that car at road atlanta, so installed factory 16 front and 15 rear sway bars and seven and 8 fuchs with the correct 21mm wheel spacers even though it came with sixes. So as one comment back then, it was a "resto mod" for example I LIKED the black headlight surrounds!!!! Somethng happened to the right seat cushion and a poor job done in restitching, they tried to do someting to the paint and it had some kind of a reaction in some areas. |
