John Straub , Mike Hagen, Jon Lowe have been known for years , for trying assemble 914-6 GT's from way back, factory parts . The Complete Kits were not easily obtainable, and alot of money for the time , Vasek Polack had most parts , but just wouldnt sell em to you , They have always been hard to obtain . Back in the late 80's a GT tank100liter listed for under 500.00 try and find one , even then.
I bought 2 sets of Gt door panels pull straps, and rear bumper and deck lid ,2-10k tachs ,Hood Pins. from Vasek's Karl Thompson, He told me to come back another day he didnt feel like digging through the stuff, he had been Ill. They had NO front hoods or bumpers and valances, rockers left. Karl said they got used up in racing. this was late 80's, I was on vacation , If I lived there I would have been there everyday to get parts..The Web has made it way easier to research such things. Straub's car may not be factory built at least I know it is built around factory Kit parts 914-6 GT. Hard to duplicate today. There are no more spares. only repo's I have a factory GT rally muffler do I use it or sell it, cant run it it wont be new anymore?? |

yes, but i'm still not clear on how this makes the car a 916 replica ... 916s and 914-6 GTs are two completely unrelated animals ... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif) Andy |
