If you don't need trigger points or points for that matter couldn't you install a trigger wheel inside the dizzy? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) oh and really I do have skills I consider beyond 5th grade but why reinvent the wheel when Eric seems to be on t something good here. Since I brought this up there seems to be some real interest in a package deal. Price point will always be a concern with this group of do it yourself guys and gals. That is the magic right there. We did that on our first VEMS systems. Volvo did it back in the 70’s. Google the Volvo D-Jet dizzy. For T4 accuracy it works. It was a complicated mishmash of a 5 tooth wheel and old dizzy components. In the end we didn’t want to be in the dizzy business so we turned to Lonnie at Permatune. A package has a real world price point that few will enjoy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

I have this system from PMB on my '73 2.0 liter. Self learning is a bit of a misnomer. You can't just drop it in and have it run while it learns. It takes someone like James to set up the tune.
I had my system installed by PMB last summer. I have been very pleased with it, but did have some starting issues. Since James was at RRC, he kindly hooked up rhe laptop and adjusted the tune. It is like a night & day difference! The first tune resulted in performance not that different from my well-running stock D-Jet system, but now my seat-of-the-pants observation is that the car is quicker for acceleration, pulls stronger, and runs smoother than ever. Since I'm in the neighborhood, I'm headed to PMB tomorrow for James to install a firmware update and fine-tune the setup. I cannot recommend this setup highly enough! |

of the people that are using the Holley system how many are using the Jenvey TB's and how many used the stock intake and TB with the updated sensors and computer?
I talked with Eric about this last year too, and i know they were using the GM injectors and pressure regulator for that if you stayed with stock intake and TB, whereas the Jenvey has the TPS and injector integraged if i am not mistaken. also a very cool look. Also some others are putting together a similar system with ITB's using Microsquirt, and i believe a vanagon distributor, not sure about trigger mechanism, ask Clay P. he was telling me about it this past weekend at Okteenerfest. No matter what either way , its going to take a good base tune and then some dyno time or someone else that knows how to map these out to get the most out of the system.. What i found out this past weekend is that my current d-jet system workse great, but tuned here at sea level runs awesome but up in the mountains i had some issues and there is no adjusting it aside from messing with the MPS and i didnt want to do that. I suppose i could have swapped in my spare and messed with it to work better at that altitude but i would think these other systems could have made some adjustments for the altitude change much easier?? I have to be reconsidering this because i may be moving to a higher elevation and be a short drive from a region of elevation change and id like it to run as nice up there as it does here . Phil-- PS Any insights on this altitude issue? |

Something like this would be very tempting. I've aways liked the "look" of carbs (guess I'm old school) and even put Solex's (Ginther Racing had a "kit" way back in the early '70's) on my '71 way back when...
I'm converting my '71 to a six but this would be perfect on my '73 2.0 which currently has carbs and a webcam. Sending my brakes from the '71 to Eric shortly- maybe he'll have to include some other parts when sending back???? |

Since I am up to my neck in carbs and carb things, are there any updates on these packages? Any real world experience with any of them. Final cost? So many options, what is a realistic cost? I was scared off by Eric's comment, a pkg will have a real world cost that few will enjoy!

I went to a high end neighborhood dog food store a while ago. They asked if they could help. I said I was looking for a different food for my dog. They immediately walked me over to the house brand dog food and said it was the best. I had never heard of it before.
None of this relates to Eric, just my skepticism of the world. |
