I'm just now getting my 914-6 GT replica running and will likely be using it for track day events and some street use. It has 2.7 CIS conversion with a Tri-Mil muffler (dual in single out) and headers. I'm looking for a muffler with more sound and exhaust flow. Any ideas on options or recommendations?

I've use a LOT of mufflers/exhausts over the years, though my 914-6 (also a 2.7) usually has open megaphones for track. Since it's street driven a bit more lately I recently went with a Dansk 2-in/2-out stainless RSR type sport muffler (from PMS). It sounds fabulous but is heavy and expensive. Car seems noticeably "happier" (less constipated) than even with a special 2-in/1-out 92mm Dansk sport muffler I had before, though no before/after dyno. I really prefer the look and (louder, throatier) sound of the wider RSR pipe design over the conventional 911 2-out sport muffler. Have a seat before looking at the price: https://patrickmotorsports.com/products/exh911rsrsmsspms I also used an early M&K 2-in/2-out for quite a while and the car ran well with that too - lighter, cheaper and smaller vs the Dansk but does sound different, less classically Porsche-like. I have tried Bursch and Triad previously as well but frankly was not a fan of either. Have heard good things about SCART as well but no personal experience. |

I got the Danske reproduction GT muffler with megaphones for my 2.8 twin-plug. Have heard this setup on a couple of GTs and it's throaty loud but not excessive, the classic Porsche sound. Certainly less than straight megaphones.
Rose Passion has the best price... you also need to buy the extensions. ![]() |

Wow, you weren't kidding about sitting down before looking at the price. Roughly $1,400 for the Patrick MSports is a "little" more than I was thinking, but I'm sure that it sounds fantastic. I've also heard very good things about the Scart, but I think they're around the same price as the Patrick. I'll take a look around at the Dansk maybe a few others and definitely appreciate the insight. Any used ones laying around the garage in your way?

Careful how loud you go if you drive your car a lot, it’s cool at first, but it gets old fast, and it attracts the wrong kind of attention. I have an older M&K on my 930, it really woke up my car, and it’s light. it sets off car alarms in the parking structure, and is too loud to go through a drive through, every cop I pass gives me the stink eye and they rush to pull out their sound meters, would be best with around 1/2 the sound. I get tons of compliments on the sound though…
My 6 has a Monty, it’s not loud at all, ![]() |

Hopefully you'll luck out and score something from the World. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) PMS markup is stiff, the same item is currently sold by several European vendors for around $600. Shipping is reasonable and amazingly quick. From Rose Passion, total is $840 plus shipping which should be about $130. Still not cheap, but better. I bought when the Euro was low in February and it came to $820 all in. https://www.rosepassion.com/en/p198450-raci...2BoCr98QAvD_BwE https://www.rosepassion.com/en/parts-porsch...s-2822-0-198453 |

I have a couple different choices for used -6 mufflers at my shop which I'd be happy to sell. I know one is a modified 2 in 2 out Dansk. There's another 2 in 2 out (Magnaflow?) setup and I think one 2 in 1 out.

Just seeing this, I have a used OLD M&K sport muffler I bought for my car...when it arrived it had some prior repairs and needs some more repair welds on it. I can shoot you pictures if needed, if you can weld it up it'll be a cheap way to get an M&K.

LOL I'm getting the impression quite a few of us have spare muffler 'collections'. I need to have a storage cleanout sale sometime.

Posted on your WTB ad thread.
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=366128 Yes Chris, I have lots of 914 and some early and midyear 911 bits too. I’m sure it’ll take me a month to clean them so I don’t feel bad selling dirty parts. |

I've been using Jones Turbine mufflers--very inexpensive but need to be fit up with flanges at local muffler shop and a bit of bracing...here's how they look and sound

Ben's sport muffler is not a bad option. It was a little restrictive for my 3.2 with cams. Probably fine for a 2.7 CIS. Looks great on a GT replica, they were decently priced if you can find one.
Ben's sport and both the M&K sound decent (go figure). I had both of those. Currently I run a Magnaflow 2in/2out muffler, best sound and performance I have found so far. Was recommended to me by knight racing. Be careful of Rose Passion, they do sell decent stuff that ships fast but customer service can be terrible. They totally screwed me over. |

I finally got the slight repairs done on the M & K that I got from JmuRiz and got it mounted recently. No drives yet, but it sounds great at idle and revs.

On a Dansk modified muffler two in two out on Factory 914-6 Heat Exchangers. Loud but not too loud. Work none by PMB Performance
