Final Floor Work - Part 4 of 4 (9/2/2024):
[Note: This is the last of 4 posts from this weekend] The final work on the floors today consisted of grinding the welds on the wheel well patch [from yesterday] and then prep'ing the entire floor for 2K epoxy. After cleaning the entire floor, I used an orbital + red scotch bright pads to get everything ready. After a final cleaning, I then used 2K black epoxy (spay can) and covered the entire floor. Here's a side by side, before and after photo. Wow! |

@bkrantz - Check out my new stool! Thanks for the recommendation. It works great but I'm not sure about the pad. It might be a fire hazard with the welder. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

Thanks y'all! The amount of work necessary to SAVE this LE is incredible. I don't think of it as work, though. It's more like therapy to me. I appreciate all the support and certainly humbled by it.
But hey! Next up... reinstalling the rear fenders. They're a little dirty on the inside, might have a dent or two, but no rust holes!! Looking forward to it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunglasses.gif) @bzettner , I'm a bit younger than you so don't feel bad. I'll be 56 in December. I do a bit of running/hiking down here to try stay somewhat in shape. I've gotten used to the heat and bringing out a bunch of water/electrolyte drinks to try and keep myself pretty well hydrated. Sometimes I don't get enough and typically pay the price the next morning with a migraine. Yuck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) Is the underside grey the 2K rattle can epoxy primer stuff? If so, how many cans? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) @Montreal914 - yep, for this I used the black SprayMax 2K Activated EPOXY Primer off of Amazon. It took two cans for this job (approx $45 total). If I hadn't previously painted the back floorpan, it would have required 3 cans more than likely. It doesn't cover like a HPLV gun spaying 2K epoxy but once you get it down it does the job. Great adhesion! For a guy needing something quick in the backyard, it's awesome. No complaints. I would have used my regular 2K epoxy but there's a good chance, I'll need to weld something down on the inside [that I forgot]. The carpet posts that I received from @914werke , come to mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Rear Quarters: Prep and Mock-up - Part 1 (9/6/2024):
It's time to pull out the fenders! I remembered them being solid but needing to be straighten out with a hammer and dolly. So here's a few photos But just like everything else on this car... completely rust covered underneath the paint. After removing all the old body sealant with bottle torch, I started removing the old paint with a wire wheel. This was too slow so I switched to a paint strip wheel and made short work of the main area on both fenders. My goal on was to have them painted and ready to go for Saturday Morning. I used my last remaining 2K Epoxy can to cover the inside of each fender. Additional work will be need to remove all the paint and rust from the edges. |

Rear Quarters: Prep and Mock-up - Part 2 (9/7/2024):
The Clecos come out!! Finally starting the process of mocking up the fenders with new RD door jams. Pulled out the doors and hood for this too. Might be using my other set of doors 'cause these are in really rough shape. I'll probably end up using the 4 doors to make 2 good ones. View from the rear with both panels rough'd in. Decided to start with the Driver Side. Here's the work done to prep this fender. I will be using the sandblaster in the end, I know it. Take so much time to get in all the little nooks on this fender. |

Rear Quarters: Prep and Mock-up - Part 3 (9/8/2024):
Diving straight into rust repair. 3 angles = 3 repair pieces. Had a blast fixing this damage. Nice to working on the outside of the vehicle for a change. I fought through the windy conditions, took my time, and used a ton of compressed air to weld everything in while keeping everything cool. In the end, I think it'll just need a hammer and dolly to get it perfectly flat. You may have noticed that I welded both sides of this repair and left a little meat on the back side. It's so nice have access to the fender off the car. Imagine doing this later after it's installed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Nope! Final few photos show what took me a few hours to do. I had to prep and install the door jam. This required it to be mocked up with the rest of the components on the car. I love clecos! I left the grinding for another day. Plus the top of the jam will need some brazing. |

I'm here.
Been busy. Just aint scared of nothing, are you? Super nice work! That re-fab of the forward pan came out KICK ASS! Getting 20 clecos out does not qualify... More like 100 is "getting them out" Should look like a freaking porcupine! Your qualify of work with the limited tools you have used is most impressive! In a backyard none the less!
