I have been informed that Carl La Fong will be bringing some of his no longer needed 914 tools to give away at the event.
 Craftsman timing light. Coil spring compressor. Pickel fork ball joint separator. Rear wheel bearing puller/installer. 19mm lug wrench with folding handle. 2 liter oil filter. 4 jack stands. 6 @ 914 mugs. Seat heater. Maybe more. |

Getting pretty close to starting for moi. Drive tomorrow to Milwaukee to get a non-stop to SeaTac. Get a ride to North Bend and check out the 3.2. Need to change the oil and wash the car. Then on Wednesday morning get started through Boise and points SW. here I come. I hope.

Last night my engine ate an upper rod bearing...and just after I'd gifted her with some color onto the flat black. Making plans for rebuild tomorrow and I'll be looking for a spare seat...again. Deja vu...

Fly to drive is having the hiccups. I was mostly gonna change the oil, but then the brake lights were always on. And the battery kept being flat. And things need to be cleaned and organized and packed. So far so good.
But another thread has cropped up. My wife is staying behind driving her elderly (even more than me) mother around while I galavant. Now the Suby she drives is excreting steering fluid. So, gotta see what I can do about that. And it is our anniversary tomorrow. “Good luck by the side of the road sweety!” now unfortunately could apply to either of us. I think it is just a metal line, corroded in the salt blizzards of Wisconsin winters. Sunny and cold, the wind comes from the north, leaving clouds of sodium chloride as tendrils and mist. Like snow, but it isn’t. |
